Heroes or Anti-heroes?

anti-heroes - anti-heroes or heroes?

Recently I noticed that a number of the movies that I really enjoyed watching have an anti-hero as the main character. I think at least subconsciously I feel that anti-heroes may just be more effective and can connect with movie viewers better. Thus I ask this question to all of you: Which is more effective as the main character in your opinion - the hero or the anti-hero?

Well, the anit-hero is definately more interesting then the old-fashioned hero dressed in white. Shades of gray always make a movie more interesing. There is more depth, more themes can be explored, etc. So I guess I would say I prefer the anti-hero more.

I definitely agree with you, but there are quite a few films I enjoyed watching for the good characters and not for the evil ones. Such a film is 'Sin City'.

Yeah, I think you're right. People do like more the character who wins over a situation, no matter if it's a good or an evil one. My favourites are Tom Ripley and Jack Sparrow, both anti-heroes.:P
