Do athlete's get paid to much?

Well do they? YES!! why do they get paid so much to play a sport? I loves sports basketball is my fav and i played in college and i still think that they are over paid. Also why does the women get paid less then the men, they work just as hard as the men if not harder and dont get paid they same. i think with the pay that some of these people are getting they should be paying the men an women that are making a big difference in kids lives like teachers that pay! tell me what you think about this. This also go for actor's and so forth!

How high an athletes pay is simply depends on how popular the sport is. If it is very popular sponsors will invest more money and more spectators will watch the sport. In my country (England) professional footballers will get paid thousands as its the most popular sport and sponsors are willing to invest huge amounts of money in the sport however women's football is less popular meaning less spectators and less sponsorship therefore they are paid significantly less.
