I still do rate people's discussions, if I think they have posted a good discussion or replied with a good, relatively thought-out reply. Also, the lower the person's star rating, the more likely I am to rate them positively. I only ever rate someone negatively if they are being extremely rude and/or offensive, usually I just skip past their response or discussion.

I've stop rating period. People are quick to give a negative and don't take the time to give plus. Mylot should make it mandatory if a person makes a reply, they must give a + or - otherwise your reply will not register.

Yes, I tend to rate each discussion I respond to and only rate negative responeses to those I feel truely detract from the topic or leave a negative vibe on my mind. I'm quite liberal with positive ratings but I don't respond or generate very many discussions. It is my belief that this is actually the purpose of the rating system and if it has been upgraded as mylot says then those who attact with negative ratings will actually reap what they sow. I am very picky about what discussions I respond to and feel each discussion I respond to is a good topic for consideration and reflection. I'm not out to just make a penny per post with a bunch of one liner responses, the way that many seem to be. I feel this should be a forum for reflection and looking inward to what is inside of us (it's certainly NOT a good way to make money), to do any less robs from our own understanding of ourselves and the world around us (not to mention mylot).

I rate discussions. I'm still undecided as to whether it's worth the effort. As long as the post contributes to the discussion, I give it a positive rating (even if I disagree with the opinion).
