Do you prefer to use pencils or pens?

I do much writing of poetry, lyrics, and short stories, by hand. And while I know that using pencils is more efficient due to lead instead of ink, and being able to easily erase. The lack of ink allows for a less messy situation. Yet, regardless of those facts I still gravitate toward using pens. I love the fact that I don't have to sharpen the utensil. Also, I love the way the ink is demonstrated on the page. When it comes to editing, well I just use up more paper. What do you enjoy using, a pencil or pen?

I like pencils because you can erase them and because they look good on paper, very smooth.

I can surely see how you would find a pencil to be effective. However I think that the "Smoothness" you speak of, at times, creates a difficult result to read.. a bit light on the impression.

More paper? What about using some Wite Out?I use both. When I need to jot down a note, so I remember what to type online or what to see on t.v., I use pencils. But when I want to keep what i wrote, I use a pen.I like blue pens over black.

White Out is a good resource to utilize but I just find it a bit messy, but its effective non the less.

Well, i prefer keyboards. LoL I hardly use pen/pencil. The entire day i spend in front of the computer and will have no work to do with pen/pencil. But, if i have some sketches/drawing to do, i prefer pencils for sure :) Im ok with anything... not very particular.

Ill tell you one thing, when Im not on the move, my prefered way of jotting down ideas is indeed, the keyboard. Its so much easier to use and its not messy in the least.

I prefer to use pen when writing, blue ink to be more specific. I enjoy writing and for me it's easier to read if it's wrote in ink. I catch more spelling errors that way when I am proofreading verses pencil. Occasionally I do use a pencil when I am in a hurry or if I can't find a pen (that happens when the kids run off with my pens).

I would much rather use a pen. A pencil usually doesnt write as well as a pen does. Smears a lot more also. I do also like the fact that you dont have to sharpen it everytime you turn around. Usually it fades much easier also. The only thing I dont like better is the fact of not being able to erase what youve written in case of mistakes. Plus my handwriting looks much better in pen then it does with a pencil.
