I never would have believed it if I didn't see it on the evening news. I mean, a Snow Storm? In the Northeastern United States? In February? That's what I call newsworthy.
Are you picking up on my sarcasm? 'Cause I'm laying it on pretty thick.
This drive me nuts. Since when is a snowstorm in the north in the winter a Newsworthy event? The first half of the news cast is all about how much snow we will get, did get, might get.
People are interviewed to tell their amazing stories of shoveling their cars out, being stuck in traffic, or heading home early to try to stay ahead of the storm. An anchor is live on the scene of a snow-covered sidewalk, flakes flying everywhere, bundled up against the cold. Captivating!!
Seriously, if we have to work this hard to find things to fill the news hour, maybe it should be cut to 30 minutes. I mean, if it was happening in Florida, ok, that's news. If it was July in New Hampshire, also news. But come on, people, snow storms happen in the north in winter. Are we not used to this yet?

LOL...one of our news stations has a call in segment and people have been complaining about the same thing! I can understand if there is something particularly unique about the snow storm...like it dropped 6 feet over night or there were massive power outages or the snow was prple instead of white lol...but there is nothing really newsworthy about a typical northeastern snowstorm. Fine spend a good portion of the weather segment talking about it but it doesn't need to be the top story....we KNOW it's snowing without being told so why waste our time!
