Shave and a haircut 2 bits!

Well dad got his for free. He finally whined enough that I gave him his haircut and shave this weekend. I liked the grown out beard and mustache he had grown. But he didn't. I even sent a photo to my older brother and his wife and they said keep it as dad looked cool with the beard etc. But alas, dad whined and I got tired of hearing his whining. So he got his "shave and a haircut 2 bits". Hahaha! Do you know how much 2 bits is?

Glad you were able to make your dad happy!
As far two bits, my first thought was two bucks, but i'm thinking it is 2 nickles!

Two bits is a colloquial expression in the United States for 25¢. It dates from colonial days, when a common unit of currency was the Spanish milled dollar. As a way of making change, these dollars were often cut into eight pie-slice shaped pieces, called bits. Hence, two bits being a quarter dollar. One source of the term's continued modern notability comes from the line "Shave and a Haircut" and the response of "two bits."

LOL Poor Dad - imagine trying to force him to keep the beard AGB! lol Maybe he doesn't want to look cool, especially if it involves wearing a beard! hee hee
Is two bits like 10c? I always thought a bit was 5c but as it isn't my native currency I could be way wrong there! xxx

Actually, he had been whining for a few weeks about me shaving him
and giving him a haircut. I broke down Sunday. Oh well. HAHAHAHA!!

Twenty five cents won't even buy a coffee much less a shave. Those were the good ol' days my friend.

Yeah I see now with the price of wheat going up my fave donuts now cost 23 cents more this wek too. Ugghhh! Can't even get a decent donut cheap anymore. They were 65 cents each now they are 88 cents. Ugghh! Hahahaha!

Hello dear Grandpa Bob. There are quite some seniors who love to keep their beard and moustache. I can often see some on the street with very long beard. I think that the gray beard makes them look cool indeed and I would like to see them. I can understand the whining from your father. hehe. Thanks, Bob.

HAHAHA! Thanks. I would love to grow a beard but as a teenager I burnt the side of my face when a radiotor in a car blew up on my face and the hair doesn't grow fully in a small area. This makes my beard look very funny and sparse. HAHAHA! Thanks.

i have no idea how much too bits is,
my sister then my cousin used to dye and cut my hair all the time, now I have to die my own hair and I cut mine as well, one style only though lol
