battery packs like dry cells has chemicals and toxins, that when contaminates a body of water can poison an animal or even people like us, as well distrups the ecosystem. so how do you dipose your battery packs? do you make any moves to prevent contamination specially on soils where we plants our crops and water that we drink from?

Here in Norfolk UK you can take your batteries to the council recycling centre and put them in a special box. I think the household ones then go to Germany as the facilities to recycle them are very limited but Auto batteries stay in the UK. I'm not sure what impact the recycling has on the environment though.

in the indutrialize countries are more advance when it comes in recycling, they have the plants and facilities in lessening their garbage problems. but in 3rd world countries, they don't have the same facilities that the industrialize countries have, like here in the Philippines, they put tons and tons of garbage to the landfills, and little on recycling.

In the UK and Spain you could find special places to get rid of your batteries but here in the Dom Rep I'm afraid they have to be thrown out with the rest of the rubbish - everything is lumped together. It's a shame.... :(

same here in the Philippines, where they dump batteries along with the usaul garbage, but there are some groups and individuals who promote segregating batteries and other recycable materials.

I rarely buy non-rechargeable batteries any more..my portable gear has rechargeable packs or uses AA or AAA rechargeable batteries..I picked up a charger unit a few years ago that will recharge Duracell type batteries a few times before having to dispose of them. There are waste disposal facilities close to where I live for recycling and Battery disposal. My usual Post Office had a battery recycling bin recently.

I dispose it to the trash can. I dont burn it because maybe it will explode. Just follow its instruction on how to properly dispose a battery. This will avoid some problem in the process.

my eviromentalist cousin said that when a battry pack contaminated a river, it is like contaminating water that you would be drinking in your lifetime
