The Human Soul

Many of the great religions believe that man is not just made up of physical matter but that man also has a living soul from which he commands the matter. The soul is what is supposed to have given us the ability to reason and our emotions. Do you believe in the Human soul? why or why not?

Well, I am also curious if anyone has at least one argument to say we don't have a soul... Because I cannot imagine that...and I am not a religious person at all...Where is the emotion coming from? from eyes or hands, or hair? Cool! The religion itself cannot be what it is if there are no souls to follow them...religion is simply based on souls! Bodies are vehicles, as I think, we are more souls than bodies!

That is an excellent point of view and I agree that our souls are who we are and the body is its tool to express itself. I have no solid proof there is not a soul and substantial proof that there is but then perhaps the true question should have been in your opinion what is the soul ?? is it something that could be physically measured like brain patterns ir do you believe that it is more abstract then that??

It can be actually measured....of course...but it has to be known first. There is a whole science for that: psychology (the science of soul). It can be determined, understood, modified, developed and so on.... It's nothing that abstract about soul...only the nature of soul!

Actaully Psycology is the science of the mind and there is a difference between the mind and the soul. The mind or Brain is where key information is stored and developes. I think that the soul is more elaborate then the mind and though they might share interfaces they are about as similiar as hands and feet. I think that you are looking at they bigger picture and that we will need to refine our search even further to find the treu answer. Pehaps in my last statement I was incorrect and the question should have been what attributes would you give to the soul. Actaully that would be a good discussion in general.
