When you are cooking or cleaning or doing the dishes, do you wear rubber gloves or nursing gloves? I never used to wear them but I now have been wearing them when I am cleaning. I cut my finger really bad, about 2 months ago, and needed stitches. I couldn't put my hands in water till after the stitches came out so I bought a box of nurse's gloves and wore them when needed. They were cheap at $6 for a box of 100 so they last a long time. They are easy to slip on and when taking them off all you have to do is pull them off inside out, and throw away. So now I always wear them when I am cleaning my house, especially when I am cleaning the toilet. I don't use a toilet brush since I now have these gloves, because it cleans better if I use my hands. So do you ever wear them or rubber gloves?

i've been a naught daughter... my mum always reminds me over and over again to wear gloves whenever i do household chores... especially when i am washing the dishes... that is to protect my hands against the irritating chemicals... but so far, i never listen to my mum... i guess i have to start doing it now that i read your post... :-) it is for my own good, isn't it??? :-)

I use gloves when I'm cleaning something that's extra gross or dirty. Usually that's not in the kitchen. There is one task in the kitchen that has earned the glove-worthy-award and that is cutting very hot peppers. Once those oils get on your skin it's hard to get them off. I've touched my eye hours later after many hand washings and been in pain from it. Ouch!!!

Not a blokey thing wearing rubber gloves, I think the only time I have worn rubber gloves is for cleaning out the oven because you have to use a highly toxic cleaner which mustn't get in contact with the skin under any circumstances, we needed a tough oven cleaner and it stunk too, but it did the trick. I hate using gloves when washing up, I like the proper feel of hot water. Oh and I used to have to wear rubber gloves for cleaning out the rabbit cage because of the ammonia and the faesces.

when i used to do dishes (our daughters do them now) i always did them with rubber gloves on my hands because that way i could have super hot water and still manage to put my hands in to do dishes...

I don't use rubber gloves when cooking, washing clothes and dishes. I feel I can't hold or grip something with my hands if it has rubber gloves.. Even in my workplace where rubber gloves is necessary to use, I very seldom use it. I am just not use to it, so I prefer to wok with bare hands. I sometimes use rubber gloves though when I am cleaning the toilet.

Hello Chrislotz, Honestly, I have not tried using rubber gloves nor nursing gloves, I used my hand to wash dishes and to wash clothes, don't have washing machine to do the laundry. When I clean the toilet, I use toilet brush. I wash my hands after that. For me, using rubber gloves is just annoying, that is why I would always prefer to wash dishes or to do household chores with my bare hands.

I never use to either. But ever since my dishwasher broke Ive been wearing them to do dishes. That way I can use real hot water. I also wear them when I clean the bathroom too. We should take care of our hands because when we get older it will show.

If you want good ones see if you have a place called Harbor Freight Tools, go there and get the nitrile gloves, they are stronger and more cut resistant. A box of 100 cost around 6 dollars.

my friend claimed to be deathly allergic to latex. it was always funny waiting for him to give his "if you touch my food with latex, i'll die" spiel at restaurants. but, personally, i love rubber gloves and always leave a hospital with ten or twenty.

I do think that it depends on how you prepare foods. But in my house, they used to prepare food with bare hands. Of course, hand washing should be needed for hygiene.
