I have been sitting at my computer for the last 5 hours and I have been working in mylot. I have been busy posting discussions and responses and I got up and realized my legs and feet are swollen. I guess I have been sitting too long and I have water retention in them. It is a very uncomfortable feeling and I don't like it. I think I need to find a way to sit and post here, with my legs up somehow.
So have you sat so long that your legs and feet get so full of water that it is uncomfortable? What do you do to stop this from happening? I need some help with this.

I am Diabetic, and have Rhumatoid Arthritis, so I can relate with the feeling of Legs and feet swelling to the point they hurt when you walk. I also need to figure out a way to raise my feet, like get a footstool for my legs at home. But I am a calltaker at work for a Taxi company and the chair I use at work is way worse than mine at home, etc. so I notice more problems there for sure than at home.
Actually, if they could find us a Miracle cure for all of this, then we would be a lot better off as well.

I stay in front of the computer for a very long time, maybe more than 5 hours. Based on my knowledge one should be moving their feet or legs in any way if they are standing or sitting for a very long time. So the circulation will still continuous and edema won't form. That is just from what I have learned, just correct me if something in what I wrote is wrong.

Well, since I sit at the computer most of the day at work, I understand where you're coming from.
They say that if you're going to sit at a computer desk for prolonged periods of time you should make it a point to get up and walk every so often (I think they say every 10 minutes but that's a riot).
I don't swell every day, but I have noticed it from time to time. My hubby gets swollen legs and feet alot cuz he sits at the PC at home most of the day.
My problem is I have varicose veins. So I do try to get up and walk now and then throughout the day. When I have the money I also buy the medical pantyhose. They really help in that my legs don't feel swollen or tired at the end of the day. Now if pigs could fly I might be able to get my hubby to wear a pair, but we all know the probability in THAT! LOL
Also putting your legs up for a 1/2 hour at the end of the day helps too.
Do you wake up with your legs and feet swollen? Alot of times my feet feel all swollen when I first go to step out of bed. ~Tink

Usually swollen is caused by retention, in this case you've been sitting for 5 hours constantly and perhaps you may have varicose vein which make it worst.
The retention caused by blood flow not be able to flow back easily to the system (venous return) because of the position of the legs.
Try to walk every hour for at least 5-10 minutes before continue to work.
