Garbage bags.

Do you buy garbage bags? Or do you use the plastic bags that you get your groceries in, as garbage bags? I use the grocery bags as garbage bags because I always have so many of them I need to use them up. I double them up so that if there is a hole in one or the other I won't get garbage in the can. My garbage day is Thursdays so I just ent around my whole house and changed all the bags and took the full ones out and put them in the big can so that in the morning my husband just has to take out the big can for the garbage pick up.

I recycle the bags that I get from every store whether the grocery store or a department store. But, I only used those bags for the smaller garbage cans in the house because they won't fit in my bigger garbage can in my kitchen. They are too small to even fit over the hole and wouldn't hold enough garbage. I would be replacing it every couple of hours. I also use the grocery bags and other bags to carry stuff like my lunch to and from work. So, I get good use out of my shopping bags.

I pack my husband's lunches in those grocery bags too. I try to find all different uses for them since I always seem to have so many of them.

Hello dear chrislotz. I do not buy garbage bags as we are offered plastic bags when we buy food from shops. We always keep them for garbage in the kitchen and living room. The grabage is usually placed at the garbage place where the garbage collector collects them every day. But there is a new policy that has been made by the government that no plastic bags that are not up to the standard specifications will not be allowed to be used in supermarkets and they will not be allowed to be produced out of the protection of environment and recycle from May 1st this year. Anyway we will know better about those plastic bags by then. Thanks.

We use both. We buy large bags for the larger cans and use grocery bags for the small ones. Did you know you can also recycle plastic bags by crocheting them into door mats and rugs?

I do buy garbage bags from time to time since I get fewer and fewer plastic bags. The grocery store where I shop charges .15 cents for each bag and I take along the environmentally friendly re-usable bags to bag my shopping. I must say I got a bit ticked off this morning. I went to my favourite bakery to get a few things since I am going to a cottage for a long weekend. I had two bags with with me but they were already pretty full. Then I saw a big sign by the cash register in the bakery that they will no longer supply plastic bags. So I asked if I could buy a couple. No, I could not, but they would sell me one of those re-usable bags for $ 1.00. I had really no choice I bought one, even though I have quite a few of them already. But now I am kind of content. The bag is red and white with the Canadian Flag and says "Canada, established in 1867"

I also use the plastic bags that I get from grocery shopping so I don't have to buy garbage bags for the garbage. The plastic bags from grocery can be reused for other things like garbage or for wrapping up some things for storage. This way we can help avoid the filing up of so many plastic bags that litter.
