A recent case where a father murdered his wife and then took his daughter and left her to be found by authorities wandering around on her own. Father took off overseas and has recently been caught. Daughter taken in by grandmother, child nicknamed "Pumpkin" you may have heard of this case!
It has been said that "Pumkin" has not been told about her Mother and still believes she is coming for her!
How young is too young for a child to be told?
Is this the right thing to do for this child?
She has been stated as becoming withdrawn!
Should this child be told?

Oh my goodness! What a monstrous father! He should be hanged several times just by putting her daughter through this misery. The poor girl must be in real distress not knowing what had happened to her parents. The right thing to do is to send her for expert counsel. She is so very young and if her emotions are not tackled now, I fear that it may have a long-term negative effects on her life.

Her father certainly is a monster and hopefully he will be dealt with harshly by the Justice System. The long term affect this will have is beyond thinking about no matter which way it goes I do feel she should be told.

it would be a hard thing to do but I feel she should be before she finds out accidentally, it would be better to tell her in a compassionate way by someone who she loves and and in a beautiful way rather than maybe as gossip or some smarty pants person who feels they would like to be the one to tell her without putting any thought into to the way they put it...

This story is kind of close to home for me, (only the being told part, of course!) And can from my own experience think it would have been better to be told as I was at a simialr age. Of course she will be very upset but then she will be just as much further down the track. There would be no easy way to do it, but as long as she felt safe where she was and loved, the rest just takes time!
