There’s a mouse in the house...

Yes, there is a mouse in my house...ok...I know technically that if I see A mouse...that means that there are MICE. And now I just have to sigh and accept that known statistic. However, I have this problem..... I don't wanna kill them! See, for some reason, each winter since moving to this state, I have experienced having mice during the extremely cold weather days. OK...I get it. The mice are cold and want in a nice warm house too! So why do I wanna kill a mouse when it is just wanting a warm place to stay? Thus, I invested in humane mouse traps. Yes...they worked the past two winters. I have caught the mice and then let them go at the local nature park. And yes, they might become snake or bird food there...but that is the natural cycle of life. And no, I am not killing and eating the mice myself! Yuck!!!! But this past summer, my partner got irritated with one of the humane mouse traps for some reason and threw it under the kitchen sink. Hmmm....I guess he just got tired of looking at it sit there. And a couple of weeks ago...when I discovered we had mice again, I went under the sick and get the trusty humane mouse trap to do my catch and release adventure. To my sad discovery....there were petrified mice in the mouse trap. :( I felt so guilty!!!!! Those poor mice starved to death!!!! How long were they there before they became a shriveled, petrified mouse? Never mind, I really don't want to know the answer to that question. Needless to say, one of my son's went to clean it out but when I discovered that one mouse was stuck under a trap door of this device, I told him it was a lost cause and to just throw it away. I would rather just buy a new one! This leads me to my problem..... I can not find the same type of humane mouse trap! And the other type of humane mouse traps are not working! We have not caught one mouse!!! It is like those mice are too smart and know that I am just waiting for them to make that step on the trigger to catch and release them! To make them nature park snake/owl food! But I still do not want to kill them! And IF I give in and lay glue traps...how horrible! Again, they would be stuck to that glue until they because starved and petrified again. I can't leave bait traps because I have dogs and it would be too much of a risk. My dogs will eat anything!!!! Dare I bring up again the rainbow colored poop my dogs commonly have from eating crayons. *Thank goodness for non-toxic crayons! So...any suggestions? Any humane traps that anyone knows of that I might find somewhere else and try? Stupid mice!

LOL I did a similar discussion a week ago about having mice in the house, since the discussion I have caught three of them! And touch wood there doesn't seem to be any more thank goodness, I caught them one after another, I think it was a male and a female and a baby, I had to go a long way from the home to let them loose otherwise they find their way back again! I bought one of these human plastic contraptions which once they enter the door closes behind them, I use potato as the bait and that's how I caught them. Good luck with your mice problem.

No problem, I guess I spoilt mine, I used chocolate as well, but they seemed to favour raw potato, and all three were caught using potato! Good luck.

That sucks! It's good that you are trying to catch them :) I hadn't ever thought to look for humane traps! Though with the cats I don't really need them now. But I know you can't get cats because of your sons allergies. Have you tried finding on online?

Yes, you are very right...my son is allergic to cats. :( I have suggested purchasing some humane traps online...but he is not in agreement. He doesn't believe in humane traps. He thinks we should set down all these different types of killing traps...including this new electric shock mouse trap!!! Poor mouse gets a jolt to take his/her life! Ouch! So far, I have stalled him. But I do not start catching them soon in my humane traps...I fear he will step in with something else. :(

That sucks! A SHOCKING one!! I haven't heard of that!!! Why doesn't he want to get the humane ones online? I'm guessing he just wants to kill them and be finished with it? I hope you start catching them soon and are successfully able to stall him. Good luck sweetie!!

Tia, you just say the word and if this problem has not been resolved I am on my way... I will not rest until that pesky mouse is out of your house.
