Do you really think America is ready for a non-white or female president?

I've been mulling this over and haven't quite made up my mind. In some ways, Americans seem to be at the point where they just want a president who's going to effectively lead the country. Race or gender doesn't seem to matter that much as long as Bush is out of office;) Other times, the issue of race or gender is constantly being brought up (like right now). 1. Do you think America is ready for a non-white president? 2. Do you think America is ready for a female president? 3. Why or why not?

To be honest with you, it does not matter the gender or the race of the President because there are always going to be people filled with hate towards a person they either #1: helped to elect or #2 did nothing by staying at home instead of trying to make sure that person didn't get office. We have had all white - male Presidents and not one of them has been loved by all. So many people have tried, and have sucessfully tried killing Presidents so the hate will be the same - it will just be claimed to be for different reasons... Anything to put off their being an A** on what someone else is or isn't.

That's very true. You can't please everyone. People will just have something new to hate.
