Yesterday, I was making soup for my youngest's lunch AND U think I should receive the "Stupid" Award. After I opened the soup can and poured the contents into a pot, I decided to put an empty can of Sprite into the soup can to save room in the recycling bad. Guess what!!!!???? Yep, I sliced my index finger. Luckily I was near the sink so I could start rinsing it and try to get a grip of myself, I hate the sight of blood. I wanted to be a nurse when I was younger but blood scared me away, LOL. Called Bob and asked him to turn around, luckily he wasn't far. Got the kids off to school, with lunch thanks to their help.
Wound up at Patient First since our dr doesn't do sutures in the office. This was my first experience with stitches besides the staples for my c-section. It wasn't as bad as I thought, I just remember my brother always screaming in the ER. I was in and out in 30 minutes with 4 stitches. Much quicker actually than my docs office or the hospital.
Now if my girls ever need stitches I can honestly help them through the situation.
My typing is slow. I have been typing since I was 15 years old and this is something I need to get use to for the next day or two. Once we take the dressing off today I'm hoping I can use it some more.
So be honest am I in the running for Mrs. Klutz 2008 or Mrs. Stupid 2008? LOL

I would say neither. We've all done much the same thing at one point or another.
I rarely cut myself when cooking, but I gashed my thumb real good while cutting some carrots for Thanksgiving dinner this past November. I about took the tip of my thumb off. I probably should have got a stitch or two, but I just staunched the bleeding and wrapped it real tight.
It did hurt for quite a while, though, so I think I cut into a nerve. It's finally quit being tender, so (thankfully) no permanent damage.

Ouch.
I had the stitches removed this weekend and it is now really hard kinda of like calloused. The skin is starting to peel around it but they told me not to pick it. Yeah right, I'm a picker from way back. So this has been a challenge for me.
I asked the nurse why was I still experiencing some minor throbbing, tinkling, etc. She told me that there are lots of nerves in your fingertips.
I got my fingernail also, so it will be fun watching that grow out.
Just to be a smart aleck the other day, I offered to show my husband what I did because I had a soup can and a soda can ready to go in the recycling. He quickly told me that I would need stitches in my head, if I showed him. LOL

Thanks Y!!!
We use to have aluminum recycling but we don't anymore. I use to save all the catfood cans, when we had cats. Would then buy them more food. LOL

Bob was messing me asking me if my common sense was still asleep. LOL - I bit my tongue and should have told him by 7:30 a.m. I have been up for three hours so I'm not on my game.
