I don’t think I need $4K this badly. If you do, there is a test study starting up soon that will pay $4K to people who qualify to catch and be fully treated for malaria (all expenses paid).
Just like all other human trials, this is reviewed by the FDA for safety.

Talk about going to extremes. $4,000 is a drop in the bucket if you die or have to a life time of agony that remains if you end up physically impaired.
$4,000 isn't really a lot of money. Look at what it can buy. I am sure it is pennies to the medical companies. But I do think we will need vaccines for malaria here in the US. The weather is changing. Diseases and insects are the bi product of warmer weather.

I agree an vaccine does need to be found. To tell you the truth, this sounds like something my husband would sign up for. There is not much he can get sick from and he is immune to quite a few different things.

I would consider it if they paid more and it was convenient for me. I don't get sick very often. But I would want to know what they were going to put in me. I'd do research on the chemicals involved before I would allow them to use it on me.

I saw this on msn earlier this morning and I still can't believe it. I'm strapped for cash, but I really don't see why anyone would want to risk their lives for $4,000 to get malaria and then get treated for it. Just seems like a really, really bad idea. And something I would not volunteer for..ever.
