you will never beilive the day I had yesterday! OK, let me go back and say that 3 days ago we bought a new car. Well, yesterday I had to run some errands, including getting insurance on the new car. So here I was driving down a somewhat busy street in the middle of town on my way to the insurance company (my first stop of the day) singing "if you're happy and you know it clap your hands" with my 2 year old and my 3 year old in the back seat, when I pass a cop (who was going the oppisite direction). I didn't think anything was going to come of it because I was going the speed limit, when low and behold, he did a u-ey and lit me up. So, I pulled into a convienance station, put my brand new car in park, and turned it off. He came up to the window and asked for my license and insurance. I explained to him, as I was handing him my license, that I had just bought the car (I had the paperwork on me if he wanted to see it) and I was on my way right that second to the insurance company (which was about a block away!) and he could follow me over there if he wanted to. .He said that was fine then asked me if I had ever been arrested or anything like that. I told him no and I have never even had a speeding ticket. He said the reason he pulled me over was because I was not wearing my seatbelt. I told him I wasn't trying to be disrespectful or anything but I alwyas wear my seatbelt and my kids are always in their car seats. We were in a pretty bad car wreck this past march (in which my mini van was completely totalled) and because we were wearing our seatbelts I walked away only with bruises and a few hairline fractures in my forearm and my kids were completely fine. We always wear our seatbelts! He looked at me and said "O, well I guess the sun was shining just right that it looked like you weren't wearing it. If your license comes back clean I'll let you be on your way." License came back spotless and I was on my way.
Then not an hour later the same exact thing happened! Just another part of town and a different cop. (except I had insurance this time). He, too, accused me of not wearing my seatbelt...so once again I repeated the whole car wreck story. Another check of my license and I was on my way.
Now you're not going to believe this...another hour an a half later...same song, different verse. Again accused of not wearing my seatbelt. Again with the story of the car wreck. Again a clean run of my license. But this time after I was told I could go, I asked the cop to be straight with me. I asked him if I got pulled over 3 times within 3 and a half hours just because I had a paper tag. He just smiled and with a wink said to just make sure I wsa doing the speed limit until I got the title and could get the real tag. I asked him if it was universal to pull over "paper tags" and use the seatbelt excuse...he just laughed and told that I have beautiful babies and to have a good day. with that he walked away...
Needless to say, I went straight home and did not leave the rest of the day!
So, have any of you reading this had any similar experiences like this after buying a new car, or am I the only one to have such great luck? Do you have any funny stories of getting pulled over? (i know, those situations aren't usually amusing like I found mine to be after the first time). I'd love to hear your experiences related to this!

Now I am scared, we too just got a new car, a mini van, on Wedensday. I hope we don't get pulled over, cause I don't have time to deal with that kind of bull. But I called the insurance company before we left the dealership and ask them to transfer our insurance from the one car we trade in to our new car, before we even drove it off the lot, by law you are suppose to have insurance on the car before you drive it anywhere, you were lucky the first officer didn't give you a ticket, the other two that pulled you over was just doing it, to make sure you had really gotten your insurance, I bet they heard the inital stop on the radio. Transferring insurance over the phone is the best way to avoid tickets. I also had them fax a copy of proof of insurance to the dealership, before we even left. We wasn't even planning on buying a new car, but our transmission has given us problems twice, and in under a year it would have had enough miles on it to void our 10 year 100,000 mile warranty, so we said screw it and traded it in.
