Another 'Baby' issue?

Ok, I am not sure if it just because I am getting older, my way of viewing things is different. Or if I am just being cynical. For those that read my last discussion about my graddaughter entitled, "Ear Piercing of Baby", know I had a concern over my 4 month old granddaughter having her ears pierced. My son, his wife and my granddaughter all live with me. Well, this mornin' I was messing around here in myLot when I heard my granddaughter cry her head off, so I left my room, and went to the room they are in. She was lying on the bed strip naked, and her mother was running her bath water to bathe her. I picked her up, held her close to me, trying to comfort her. I walked into the bath room, rubbing her back and talk to her, to try and sooth her. No biggie. Then her mom pipes up and asks "did you see her tattoo?" taken a bit back, I said, "NO!". So she comes and shows it to me. Yes, plain as day, a 3 x 2 tattoo of a care bear (a temporary one) was sporting her arm. I almost lost it. Instead of saying anything, I simply kissed my granddaughter's forehead and handed her to her mother and walked out. Can someone please tell me the reasoning behind sticking a tattoo on a 4 month old baby? Yes, I know kids like having these. Having something to admire and show off, but a 4 month old?

You've got to be kidding, Chey. Sounds like momma never grew up. No telling what she'll put the poor girl through. I have to question her leaving the baby there naked while she ran the bath, too. Why not have the bath ready first, then undress the baby?

I swear Ldyjarhead, I am not a judgemental person. I truly believe, "to each their own". I almost lost it, literally. As I stated in one of the responses in my other discussion. I have and tend to her 85% of the time. It's everytime, I am not tending to her, something stupid like this happens. I just want to scream.

I understand completely. Who was the tattoo for, anyway? Obviously for Mom's benefit. Tell her to get her own stinkin' tattoo, or put on a Scooby-Doo bandaid or something.

The mother does have tattoos. Her, her sister and their mother all have the "playboy bunny" tattood on their ankle. And she has a couple of more, not even sure what they are. Maybe this is a forewarning of some kind as to what to except when my granddaughter gets older.

now i don't know this girl but really what is wrong with her. why would it even cross her mind to put a tattoo on a 4 month old. how old is she? it kind of sounds like she needs to grow up a little and real fast. now don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with them my kids love them but they are also 7 and 3. we used the to potty train my oldest son. he thought they were great so when he used the potty he got one. but not at 4 months. it just crazy

At the moment, I am trying to figure out myself what is wrong with her. It's not like she is a young teenager, she is 20 years old. Yes, a lot of kids like the little temporary tattoos you can get in the machines, I myself liked them when I was a kid(they were a lot smaller back then, a little rose, or butterfly). I have no issue with that. I do have an issue with it on a 4 month old. Hell it's freezing here, so it's not like it can be shown off either way. Maybe I am just being cynical, but it still has my blood boiling.
