What is your policy on returning things that you aren't goig to use?

I have a strict policy on it. If I buy something, makeup, shoes, clothes, mechanical items...anything...and I find that either it doesn't fit well as far as clothes, shoes that hurt my feet within 10 minutes or less of walking around my house, mechanical stuff that doesn't work well, or whatever it may be, I will return it because I don't believe in letting it go to waste in a drawer, closet or the garbage and losing money on it. How about you? If you buy a pair of shoes that hurt your feet moments after putting them on, do you return them? If you bought a piece of clothing that looked ok in the dressing room but, once you tried it on at home, something didn't seem quite right or you couldn't incorporate it with something else in your closet, do you return it? How about makeup that doesn't deliver as promised like lipstick that is supposed to stay on for 8 hours and not dry your lips out, and the reality is that it stays on if you don't eat anything but also makes you feel like you have no moisture left in your body to produce for your lips, do you return that stuff?

This is a grey area. I return stuff that is not as promised to a store, but if I buy it on the internet I sometimes can't be bothered with this with the postage and packing costs, so it depends how expensive it is. I bought a belt that said one size fits all and it was too big for me, so I just left it in my wardrobe hoping to sell it on, since it was only £5 so the cost of postage and packing would not be worth the refund.

Isn't that funny when you don't fit in something that says "One size fits all"? My head is smaller than the average adult's head. You wouldn't notice it until I put an adult one size fits all hat on. They never fit. I bought a really cute hat that I had to pin the back in order to make it fit and, it still could be a little smaller. LOL! As for your belt, you might consider giving it as a gift to one of your female friends. Or, you could donate it. I do tend to return stuff that I bought on the internet anyway because, I can't stand it if I buy something that I am not going to get any use out of. So, even though I end up eating some money in the return, I still get some money back. Of course, if I would get less than the charge for shipping back, I would likely keep the item and try to give it to someone else. LOL!

The belt physically fits, but it doesn't look good on anyone less than a size 12 I would say. None of my friends are that size sadly, they are all about an 6/8 like me.

I need to adopt your policies! I have a choronic compulsion not to return things unless they just really don't fit or are broken. I am a bit of a pack rat, so maybe that's part of it. I think I might have a use for it one day. Honestly though, I mainly have a houseful of junk that I'm about to throw way, so yeah I think I'll take your lead and just start returning things that I won't use.

Do it! LOL! It is a great policy because then nothing gets wasted. Not your money and not the merchandise. For now, don't throw things away. Just box or bag them up and take them to Goodwill or another charity and then you won't feel bad about getting rid of stuff you still think that in 3 years from now you may use even though you haven't used it for 6 years! LOL! Good luck! You can do it! You'll feel better when you unpack the rat within! LOL!

Hi Cort. I've gotten so much better at returning things that I dont have use for, don't look right on me, or that aren't up to par with the amount of money I spent on it. Thats my biggest issue. If I have spent money on something highly recomended or of value, I want my moneys worth, I want it to last. And today's products just don't do that. Alot of companies gain my respect and my loyalty about being easy to deal with when returning items. Logitech is one of them. If you buy one of their products and are not satisfied, they will make it right. And theres not too many places that are like that any more.

Hey leppard! I actually think that I have gotten better about returning things in the past year or so too. And, I agree that you should always get what you pay for. I also like a company where the return is easy. I shouldn't be hassled about my return. It should be as simple as either no questions or just asking me if there is anything wrong with it and accepting my answer with no more questions. Thank you for your response!

I return everything, that doesn't do what it is supposed or look like it should. I don't see anything wrong in doing that and it is your right as a customer to return unsuitable purchases. You can't return stuff like make-up in the uk, due to hygiene but then all you do is contact the manufacturer and get them to refund you.

I agree that it is our right as the customer to return anything unsuitable for purchase and also if it was just something that was an ill fit for us whether it was clothing, shoes or a decoration for our home. I have heard that you can't return makeup in the U.K. But, I have also heard that makeup in the U.S. that gets returned to the store just gets send from the store to the manufacturer so, you are just cutting out the middle man in the U.K. You know, I would swear I answered this response as I remember saying the same thing about the U.K. versus the U.S. as far as makeup returns. I wonder if it either got deleted or somehow my computer messed up. Anyway, I am sorry for the late response! I do seem to remember responding to you though! I hope you can forgive me! I assure you, it was nothing against you at all!
