Do You sometimes Forget the Simple Things?

Ok, I had intended NOT to post a discussion today because I'm already so far behind on not only my responses but friends' new discussions also - I appologize to everyone, honestly I don't intend to ignore anyone. What's been going on is I've had 2 of my grandchildren (grandson 5 and granddaughter 2) every day for the last 7 days as well as 5 of those nights also (I actually have the house to myself this evening). This alone has made me understand why we have kids when we are young - as we get older it's next to impossible to keep up with their energy level:) I will however have them again tomorrow - so please understand if I don't respond right away... But, that is not what this discussion is about. With everything that has been going on in my life I have let one of my true loves fall by the wayside and be ignored - my personal web site... Tonight I was making a few minor changes to the site (money making stuff) but stopped to take a look at my 'front page'. In doing this I realized I hadn't checked my guestbook in several months - come to find out when I moved last summer I failed to change my email address there so have not been receiving notifications when someone left a message.... Well, believe me I was so surprised and thrilled to see that several of my friends here at myLot had signed my guestbook. I actually started crying (those who know me I cry at just about everything) tears of joy is what they were. You know what? I think there is just the greatest bunch of people there is here at myLot and I would like to say here and now I love each and every one of you - thank you all from the bottom of my heart. So, I had forgotten something simple, my guestbook but got a great reward when I did notice it again. Do you sometimes forget simple things and then it's like a very special gift or surprise when you do notice it? What types of things do YOU consider a 'simple thing' that gives you pleasure?

my cat. You will hear me all day talk about how much that cat is getting on my nerves, but I bet if he wasnt around I'd cry just as much as he was. No he isnt a dog but for some odd reason he makes me feel safe. I guess it just takes off the lonely edge.

Yeah, piglet can be annoying sometimes, and I know that just as much as you didn't want the cat, you are glad that you have piglet. Piglet likes the baby just as much as the baby like piglet too! Just as much as your cat that you left behind Madison, can be annoying sometimes, I wouldn't trade her for anything either. Madison, Snowball and Wheezy crowd around me at night, no matter where I am at.

LOL - Piglet? Who named the cat Piglet? That is funny, but then people questioned me for naming a cat Mouse years back, note, not Mouser but just Mouse (he looked just like a mouse when he was born). I do know what you mean about the loneliness - cats can be annoying but at the same time there is great security in just knowing they are there. I can't imagine not having my Indy (Independance - was born July 4, 2006).

Oh that is so funny - I've actually done that and lost an entire year one time - I made myself a year older than I actually was, not intentionally. When it came time for my next birthday someone asked how old I was going to be and I told them, the wrong age, but one of my olders sons was there and corrected me. Not many women make themselves older :)

My grandkids give me a great pleasure. They don't do big things but things like they will draw a picture especially for me. Or they were over on Friday night and spent the night and my two grandgirls decided they were going to put nail polish on my fingers. While they were doing that my grandson fixed my hair. Then when the girls were finished with my finger nails they decided to do my toe nails. It was a simple thing they did but it gave me the greatest pleasure.

Oh that sounds like such fun - my grandkids haven't done my finger or toenails but do my hair alot. I love having my hair brushed which was how it first started but they love to 'style' my hair - the most fun for them is brushing it all forward (I have thick hair) so it covers my face then we play 'where's Grandma'. 2 year old tried doing the same with her hair but it's so thin and fine there is no hidding for her so Grandson will bruch mine forward, then I lean forward a little and he tells his sister, "Ok, Colleen hide now" Have gotten my nose nearly broken a couple times doing this but she gets her head up by my face, underneath my hair so Andrew can't see either of our faces :) One of my greatest little pleasures in the world are those little 'I love you Grandma' yelled from some other room of the house out of no where.

Also when one of the grandkids will be doing something and stop what they are doing and look at me and say I love you granny. The greatest single pleasure in the world.

Yea, it the thoughts that count, Faith. We were all so absorbed in our own world, dealing with stress and pressures, worrying on a lot of things that we tend to forget who we are, what we are and the people around us. Sort of like losing our perspectives. I'm a very easy person to please. A simple e-card, a short "I love you" note from my girls, a cup of coffee with my best friend, anything that's simple and doesn't require a lot of time and money. =)

Simple things that give me pleasure is when my son draws these fantastic drawings of the family. Though they are drawings of a 5 y/o, I can tell the work he had put into it and sometimes when I am cleaning, I find one of his drawings and it brings me back to when he first drew it..:) I am so happy that you have found something that touched you like that, I didn't know you had a website where someone could sign a guest book, I will have to sign it too, don't want you to forget me..:)

Yes, I've actually had the site & domain for nearly 8 years but have had a web site for over 10 years now - it's hard to believe I've been at it that long. My way of being used by God. I know what you mean about those pictures, your son is the same age as my grandson Andrew and he's always making pictures for me. Does your son get frustrated when he can't get something the way he wants? Andrew is always coming to me "Grandma I can't draw a picture of a ...... will you do it for me?" So there are tons of pictures around that we've both worked on :)

a cup of tea and listening to Mozart's music on my computer are simple things that give me pleasure. also when my son has come to me when I worked in the library for some reason and when he saw me his eyes lighted up like a light had gone off over his face.just a simple thing, love from your adult son.

Oh that sounds so relaxing - I don't drink tea but would love to be able to just sit and listen to Mozart or some of the other classical music CDs I have, no one else in the house appreciates fine music. yes, seeing the love for you of an adult child is a wonderous thing you are very lucky, I seldom see that from mine.

Whenever I think about all my ambitions and goals in life, I have the tendency to overlook the simple things that truly give me pleasure. When I am a little anxious about a lot of things, I am reminded of these simple things and they make me very happy and excited. A simple thing that gives me pleasure are my dogs.. I love them so much.

Where I live we have a great deal of snow. Something I really enjoy doing is looking out my kitchen window and watching the birds, rabbits, and chipmunks at the bird feeder. Its really wonderful to watch the animals share all together. It might be a simple thing but what a lovely thing. At least I think so.
