I recently received a new computer. I had Windows XP before so everything I wrote was in Word 2000. Now if I go to use my memory stick the new computer doesn't accept the old documents on the memory stick. This is a pain since I have my resume and other important documents in the old Word 2000. I am curious if anyone knows how to transfer these or do I have to redo all my documents? I would appreciate any advise that someone can offer.

Aside from loading Office or Word 2000 on your new computer, or even a newer version of office or word, you can do like another suggested and download openoffice. It's like Microsoft Office, but made by SUN and is freeware! 100% Free, and it will work with your older Microsoft Office documents. Most versions of Windows also come with Wordpad, which can open a lot of MS Office documents. I'm unsure if Vista has it or not, but I suspect it has something similar. Hope that helps.

I am not sure if I read you correctly. Most software, especially Microsoft office tools can read a lower version especially in XP environment. Unless you are trying to read a document of higher version eg Office 2007 while you are still in XP. In this case, you may need to install extra utilities to read the files. Alternatively, you may save the Office 2007 files to a lower version.

I take it that you are using office 2007 or higher right now.. microsoft stopped its support for the older versions, so you will have to use a different office editor such openoffice.org and then save in the compatible version...
