Yo Yo's Did you know this about them?

Did you know that Yo Yo's were made and used as weapeans? I was watching a ad on the tv and said no way.. I looked over at my husband and said yes and gave me the whole story about it, Not that I can remember it though.... Have you ever been hit by one of them? I know I was when I was younger my brother and sisters were swinging them around with out paying attention to who was beside them and I was actually hit in the face by one.. and yes it did hurt...But until tonite I never knew thats why there invited and used as...

Along with the top, Yo-yos were used for war as well for hunting during earlier times ^_^ Others say that it originated from the Philippines but, Yo-yos were more recognized at China at some Circus acts but, that's just some parts of its history.

I even read some posts here in this site that it really had roots at Greece and it travelled to Europe ^_^ Popularized by a Filipino named Flores in America. Your quite welcome ^_^

I remember sometime during history class that they are indeed used as weapons. Though the yo-yos before could have been a little rougher, they proved versatile weapons. Today, it evolved into a popular pastime, with players inventing tricks and stunts with it.

Wow that is very interesting.. I does make a good weapon... I have a Yo Yo from many years ago here on my desk , I play with it during breaks... I never knew they were originally invested as weapons.. I still think could hurt someone if you hit them hard enough with one lol

hi Neo thanks for replying to my question... Yes I do agree that someone can be hurt by a yo yo actually, If they are hit just right it could I'm sure break someones nose or something in that case.. Or even make huge welts that all depends how hard they have been hit though... I too like yo yo's and use them as a toy they are fun to play with when your really bored that's for sure...

Yes, they were actually primitive weapons...there are still some modern day versions around I'm sure but these particular ones started out as weapons and became toys...maybe that's where the saying "Be Careful or you'll Put Your Eye Out" comes from. My oldest brother beaned me a few times with his and I think I've even beaned myself a time or two. [b]**AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~[/b]
