When I was in school I used to get many types of punishment, In that one day when I came late due to not getting bus, I punished by sports teacher to run for one hour in school play ground, after that run I fainted and later came to know that I could run long distance. On the annual sports day I participated in school long race and won second prize, just then my sports teacher congratulated me and said I gave that punishment to me as a coaching, after that no more punishments only coaching from sports teacher. Later I won two more long races and my sports teacher I became more like friends. This was one of my unforgettable punishment, any to share.

That was really great. I always love happy endings and I also want to congratulate you for your accomplishments. When I was in elementary, I had a terror teacher. One day he gave us an unannounced spelling quiz. I think my classmates were noisy so he surprised us. Nobody got perfect but the highest score was like 13 out of 15. I got 8 and the rest of us were punished to kneel on a newly cemented floor with sands still on it.

It was terrible if you ask me. By the way, that teacher got kicked out because of his type of punishments.

There was a time during my grad eschool years that I started a rock throwing war in our school pond with my friends. The security staff came in and dragged them to the dean's office while I escaped like crazy. I thought it was alright since I didn't get caught but to my surprise, my name has been broadcasted all over the school through our PA system, telling me to turn myself in and I won't hide forever. Man, that was punishment enough since everybody in school heard that. Me and my "friends" were eventually asked to mop the floors of every building...

That is no way to bring out the talent in a student any one else could have got a stroke for the teachers stupidity.I remember when I was in the boarding headed by priests. While sleeping someone put water in another boys ears it was not a nice thing to do but what was worst still the priest on enquiry found that no one is owning to the mischief took it upon himself to be the policeman and the judge and to set an example to the others simply accused me because I used to speak up at times, and made me kneel for the night without food or sleep. I bore the punishment stoically but as I grew up I realised that I had developed a manic hatred for all priests for the sake of ones action.I realize that they are human and do have their faults and are bound to make mistakes,as in my case but I dont put them on a pedestal and think what they tell us is all the truth, nor do I think its necessary to confess anything to them. I talk to God directly and ask for forgiveness for my wrongs.

wow! so your punishment was like a blessing in disguise because you discovered that you can do marathons! you are lucky to have that punishment. ^__^ i can't remember any punishment that taught me something good or made me discovered a talent or anything. i can only remember one punishment that made me felt so awkward with a person all my life. i was in first grade when me and my classmates arrived late in our afternoon class. my teacher then was my godmother. but i have never taken liberty of that fact. i am actually scared of her. so when we arrived, she each grab our hair and pulled back and forth. i can't forget that day. it made me distant to her and to her children.

Several! I was thrown out of class, given raps on my knuckles, made to stay back after class, made to stand in front of the class, made to run round the entire school building three times, fired many times, made to write imposition many times... honestly, I don't remember getting the time to study with all these punishments!! ;)

wow that really turned out well for you, we never had that kind of punishment, when I was young the boys got strapped, they long since stopped that. I remember in high school I came to class late and the whole class had to stand up to greet me, that was very embarrassing. I wanted to cry.

I was such a talkative student and my teachers used to punish me for it because I can't keep my mouth shut. When I was in college, I had a male teacher who really found me too talkative that he move me on the platform and let me sit there for the whole period. It is memorable for me because it was soooo embarassing.

Hello dear shamrack. From this experience of your punishment, you finally found out your potential talent, which was really very encouraging. It turned from some punishment to discovering your talent and led to your winning the long race. That is why you owe your thanks to your coach teacher so much. When I was at school, I was an obedient student and I do not have any impression that I was punished alone unless the whole class were punished to stay after school...

I went to elementary school in a little one-room red-brick country school. There were 9 grades and only one teacher. The teacher had lots of problems and one was keeping order. I was 13 and in grade 7 when I was disciplined for talking. The teacher made me sit with the girl I was caught talking to. The desks were of wood and designed for 2 but as there were plenty of desks and not as many students, each desk had only one student. AS it turned out it was a reward rather than a punishment, as this girl was my pick of the day. My heart skipped beat as I slid over next to her and the clean fragrant scent of her body almost overwhelmed me. I pretended to be innocent as I picked up my reader and found the pages we were supposed to be studying. It was only later that I realised, the teacher in her desperation to keep order had knowlingly put us together, because we made less noise and distraction upclose rather than apart. Such was life in the 1940's!

I always got the same punishment.. usually I had to write a long boring penalty.. I always got punished for the same thing... for talking in class (I can't help it! I'm a talker! lol!) one school year I spent every single day doing a penalty! My own kids have some of the same teachers that I had growing up and it never fails.. as soon as I meet with them about my child.. I walk in and they say.. "OMG! the talker!" *blush* at least they remembered me! lol!

What I have to share is not funny. I consider it abusive. Although I was not the one punished for this but some of my classmates in second grade were. This is something unforgettable to me because my poor classmates were actually punished unjustly simply because they were talkative and was not able to do their assignment. My teacher had them remove their lower garments; boys and girls. For the girls, their undergarments were allowed to remain but for boys, they were asked to remove everything. Sometimes, they are asked to stand infront of the class; other times, they were told to parade around the classroom in such a humiliating appearance. We were reallly, really scared of that teacher at that time. I could imagine what would happen to her teaching career if she would do the same thing now that our educational system in the Philippines has changed a lot.
