To earn money at myLot, there are basically 5 activities we can engage in. 1. Posting discussions 2. Responding to discussions 3. Uploading images 4. Getting referrals 5. Partaking in contests and kind that offer cash Have I missed out any? If you believe in karma, you believe that "what goes around, comes around". If you are good to someone, your kindness will be repaid in the future in another way. If you are nasty to someone, the same thing happens. Let's analyze the above 5 activities, starting from the bottom. #5 - How much good karma can contest participation generate? Pretty much nothing. #4 - How much good karma can getting referrals generate? Well, IF (a BIG IF) you manage to help your referral earn money, then fair enough, you do your referral some good. #3 - How much good karma can uploading images generate? Quite close to nothing too. #2 - How much good karma can responding to discussions generate? Well, assuming your responses are positive, you might make the thread starter happy. You might help make his discussion popular and/or solve a problem he is talking about. I would say you get some bits of good karma from this activity. #1 - How much good karma can posting discussions generate? Well, there is a reason I am analyzing this the last, right? There are a few "levels" of possible karma here but let us just talk about the max. Generally speaking, someone who posts a discussion generates A LOT OF GOOD KARMA in my opinion. Here's why: When we post discussions, we get different numbers of responses. Some a lot, some less. For the sake of this case study, let's assume someone receives 10 responses. For most active myLotters, I would think getting 10 responses is possible enough. Just imagine: You post ONE discussion and you provide TEN people with the opportunity of responding. Because of you, ten people get a discussion to answer and they get paid accordingly. And if your topic is non-niche, you provide even more people with the opportunity of responding. Active myLotters can attest to the fact that though there are many discussions floating around in myLot, it is sometimes close to impossible to find more than a handful of discussions to respond to. So when you post a discussion, you help provide the platform for others to voice their opinions and earn some extra money. Posting discussions is good karma. Do you agree? Do share your thoughts! =)

I would say... just post. Try not to think about it and the responses will come, hopefully.:) @Patsie: It is just impossible to deal with the "workload" at myLot. If I make response to every comment in all my discussions and respond to all the discussions my friends started, I think I might manage half the workload if I have say, 120 hours in a day. Do I have that? :P

I am sure your posts were great and I am also afraid that many times I got too busy and did not respond to all the posts of my friends like I wanted to so may have missed some of your best posts. I will be more responsive in time as I am just learning the ropes here.

Two more activities to my 'thinking'mind (sometime only it works) 6) Reading others disucssion ----- This may take readers to open up with new ideas. While, 'responding to discussions' may partially cover this point, but thorough reading is the first action, which takes more on to responding. Reading/hearing is the mother of learning...The intiator is respected. Here is a competitor to your 'Posting discussions' LOL. 7) Selecting the discussions on its due merit--- I think most of us are not doing this. Selecting is tougher than posting a good discussion. Mere responding to discussions is like just articipating / voicing. Appreciating others disucssions/ comments is a good human nature. In turn, one is appreciated shortly/in future. .. and I appreciate your good posting of this discussion, which has led me two more pointers !!! People like me, who can not start(b'coz of starting troubles/ to be ignited) discussions, may participate actively like this. Someone LEADS and that LEADS others to follow. When you say, KARMA, it actually means doing an action, without expecting benefit out of it, simply a kind of responsibility.. and here does not the meaning work out differently?

Reading... as in fully understanding the topic before responding? What do you mean by your last point? You mean you are being harassed when starting discussion? *gasp* When you say, KARMA, it actually means doing an action, without expecting benefit out of it, simply a kind of responsibility.. and here does not the meaning work out differently? Er... huh? I was saying that when one posts a discussion, it is just part of his myLot activities. However if we look closer, we can see that by posting discussions, he is providing opportunities for others to voice their opinions and earn some money - and so imho, it is somewhat good karma.

I agree and I want to thank you for this one good opportunity of mine. You giving chances for others to say out loud their views to certain ideas, contexts, opinions in different forms is like giving them the chance to their own expression. Writing in mylot has made a big change in my part and I am most thankful for the one who invited me in. I didn't realize the good mylot served me since I was just focused on the earnings. Now, it's more than the earnings, I have this chance to develop my writing skills, communication skills, gain friends, and exercise my thoughts and let others know. It is for me a good karma to spread your thoughts because it might be something that a certain person needs and you just had it float here at mylot. The good feeling that you know someone has the same interest as you or someone believes in affirmation with you. Getting along is more than a good karma.

Hi Lordwarwizard, I am a Christian but I do believe in something in good deeds be repay by good deeds too which is similar to KARMA. About the discussion in mylot and interrelated with the KARMA, I put it this way. When we post something positive and without abusive and foul language and our posting does not hurt anyone, that I consider as we share good deed and therefore good karma for us. Sharing means we are not selfish to share ideas and opinions and therefore we are doing the service to others.

first of all, i really admire any postng that you made i here cause what i see, it sees you always have many response in each discussion tht you made, my friend and i am happy to be one of your friend in mylot. as like you written above about good karma in posting discussion, you're quit right. if we don't have post any discusion in here, it means we don't give any chance to aother to choose interesting topic to be responsed and i think there is no variety in discussion if we don't submit any new discussion. you really have good points in this matter

Wow, Lordy, that's deep! :p I always liked responding to discussions quite a bit, because then I feel like I'm helping the original poster. Also, I feel like I'm helping others who are reading the discussion because they are actually interested in the topic by sharing information. Since I often respond to rather serious discussions, I meet a lot of these types of people. On the other hand, I can understand what you're saying about posting discussions. Not only does it give a lot of people something to respond to, but it can also help others by providing information as well. So perhaps you're right, and it does give the most good karma. Having said that, I'll still limit the number of discussions I start. Because I think posting discussions and then not ever getting around to commenting on responses is bad karma, and I have a hard time keeping up if I have too many discussions. :p

I always liked responding to discussions quite a bit, because then I feel like I'm helping the original poster. Sure thing! :) And yes, I do strike to strike a balance between posting discussions and responses too. If possible, I try to comment on responses to my discussions too. And you are right - if you just post discussions and do not comment on responses, you are gonna step on many people's toes.:P

i think everything we do affects our karma...which is what karma is...posting photos can sometimes brighten someone's day, so i think it enhances the discussions... a good book you might enjoy is the seven spiritual laws of success by deepak chopra, it has a lot of interesting ideas on karma/dharma and more...i am rereading it again lately so it is on my mind :)

I still don't undrstand of the getting refferals.I don't know how I can get money and what should I doto get it.The others you say I think is very useful.i only want you to tell me something about the refferals.
• Singapore
22 Mar 08
Referral? Huh? Just recruit people and you get an extra amount equal to 25% of what they earn. There is a current promotion that doubles this figure till some date (which I can't remember). It is the same as referral in every other program.

You are so smart Lordwarwizard... All your discussions are so well perceived and outcome in apositive way.. It does help to have a large selection of discussions so there are some that we can input our resposes to.. Otherwise we would be limited and have hardly any of interest.... I do beleive what goes around comes around and Do onto others as you would want them to do to you... Posting a good discussion will yes result in good amount of responses. Pretty much everything you do, will generate something to hopefully benefit...

good karma is good, So posting a good positive discussion that will elicit good, kind, positive comments, is a discussion of good karma. And kind positive comments bring good energy and good karma. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything. When you give out bad karma, it is negative energy and is bad for the giver as well as the receiver.

I agree that posting discussions is a really good idea. I have no idea if you earn for posting discussions, but i post one whenever i think of something decent that i think other people might want to answer. I dont just post anything that pops into my head though, because people will get sick of the same type of discussion all the time. I try to be somewhat original, but after 120,000 people have joined.. I dunno how original any of can really be huh? lol. Thanks for the discussion lord, These are all really good and valid points that should help some of the newbs out i bet ;)

I do not believe in good karma or bad karma for that matter. I do believe that some discussions I post may help someone, and some discussions another person posts may help me, but it does not mean by posting a good discussion, the angels are going to smile on me and then someone is going to do a good deed or as I usually think, a rich uncle will die and leave me his millions. Besides we do not know each other's real name and for something good to happen to that person who posts good discussions, someone not on the myLot staff will have to say, "ah that person is a good writer and give good advice. Maybe I will write them and call the Family Circle and tell them that this is a good writer and belongs on their staff." The more people who answer your discussions, the more you get paid. At the most, besides increasing finances, discussions and responses will help clear up your thoughts as to certain matters and if you already made your mind up, confirm your view. You also practice your writing so if you want to be a professional writer be it in fiction or non=fiction writing, you will get paid.
• Singapore
9 Mar 08
Lol, if only! If only getting a little bit more good karma means angels coming down from heaven to massage your back for you! :P The uncle thingy will only "work" if you don't have siblings or you are the only one left. And, you are hilarious! :)
