Don't even get me started on cell phones. I love mine, but I use it for what it was intended, emergencies and very quick conversations to check on family members. The camera feature takes great pics of grandchildren, but more important would record a pic of a suspicious vehicle or person. I understand that there is danger around every corner and they are very necessary for safety. There are no longer any working public phones available and the invention has even helped to solve crimes. Unfortunately, most people (adults are just as guilty) use them as a license to be rude. I was waved off by another customer in a grocery store aisle while I was trying to reach a product, because she was in the middle of a conversation with her boyfriend. When I was working as a cashier, people would go through the entire transaction pointing at me like I was a servant or a pet, rather than get off the phone. Now we are not talking about corporate mergers, solving crimes with the C.I.A. or F.B.I, we are talking about conversations deciding whether to have pizza or burgers for supper! I don't think adults even talk to their children face to face any more. They just call or text them. Driving while using the phones should be banned altogether. That is a very dangerous practice that has caused many an accident. I'm not against the phones, just the misuse and it starts with the parents. Manners are almost extinct. There should be rules of usage and many stores and other facilities now have the good sense to make you shut them off when you enter.

hi and welcome. i think cell phones has their advantages.but sometimes they are being missused.especially the video camras where you can just search the net and see the abuses.people record things and post them and i think this can be harmful.

I guess it depends how safe it is where you live but in my area cell phones are important for the young people. There are too many kidnappings, school shootings, bombings etc., and it makes the students and parents feel better knowing that they can get help in an emergency. I do agree that the young people need to learn proper cellphone manners but so should many adults.

Hi and welcome to Mylot. Do I think the actual use of cell pones spoils the younger generation. Probably not. In my view the younger generation bases their choices on what they learn at home. If parents are a strong, loving guiding force in any child's life no cell phone will have the capacity to lead them astray. Are there misuses..of course there are...but it is not the cell phones that are doing it...but those using them. Choices...we all have choices and every choice has a consequence...cell phone or not. I have a friend at work who's daughter has a mobile phone and she drives me mad about the arguments her and her daughter have had because she has ran up a big phone bill. Its great to know that your children can get hold of you or vis vers what ever the time of the day or night be, however people servived without these things for years and i dont belive that they have made the world a safer place, if anything they have made children into spoilt kids with no time for mum and dad because they are always on the phone.

I think it makes feel like the universe revolves around them. It creates inattention rather than focus.

Yes yes yes! I didnt get a cell phone until I could afford one and buy one on my own! My brother wishes he had one, but he is 16 now, and still does not have a phone. I have realized that before I had a cell phone I was fine, but now if I leave my phone at home, I go crazy, and feel naked with out it!

Please explain further. My daughter has a cell and so far I have seen no problems with it. In fact, I like it...I can get in touch with her and she has no excuse not to keep me updated on her whereabouts. maybe I am missing something but i haven't seen lots of problems.

Everything which have some advantages my friend, would have also some disadvantages and the same case is true fo r cellphones also. They are also used for both purposes. So saying that cellphones are boon for todays technical life is not fair( i think so...). Cellphones keeps your relatives and friends close to you.
