Imagine if we lived in a world with NO crime, no robberies, no theft, no embezzlement, no shootings, no stabbings, no rape, no child abuse, no animal killings, no larceny, no arson, nothing. Crime rate was ZERO, absolute ZERO Think about it, sounds like nirvana, heaven, utopia right? But then think about this With no crime there would be NO Police, Judges, Barristers, Prison Officers, Prison staff, Lawyers, Solicitors (except for divorce cases naturally) The amount of jobs that would be lost that are interrelated to crime Could it be possible, could you imagine it? Could we live with zero crime? How would it affect your life, your town, your city, the world?

We could never live in a utopia because everybody has a different thought on what a perfect world is, if we had no crime then the jobs that would be lost would be epic. Less crime would be great as where I live we have very little crime and it is nice and part of the reason why we left the UK.

My poor daughter had to go to the Old Bailey the other day to give evidence in a murder trial, it was a very scary time for her and I would not wish this on anyone. Crime affects so many people it is something I would not miss. I would love to live in a crime free world, but this would never happen, there are too many nutters in the world including judges, solicitors and police. They could find other jobs I am sure. Judges could become Clowns in a circus, Solicitors could become sewage workers and the Police could work on Pig farms:))

Thought provoking discussion my friend - it sure gets the old grey matter working! I could definitely live in a world with no crime but it's very hard to imagine in the corrupt world that we live in now. No more poverty, no more hunger, no more fear - ah, perfection personified. All those people who would be made redundant in a perfect world would find other jobs, and with less stress. It would all sort itself out I'm sure. btw, I love ItTakesAllsorts comment!

In my opinion, wolfie, a world without crime would be ideal. The cost of putting so many people out of work would be a fair trade for the benefits of a peaceful existence. People would be free to come and go without fear of being molested, children would have a chance to grow up as they should, and It would save untold amounts of money spent on health issues that are brought about as a result of so many who live in fear.

utopia - sign to utipia
Are we dreaming at the same time? I was talking to my friend yesterday about world without wars and crime. Edan garden living is possible if we have no money and we can go back to natural living with goods exchange and no taxes. I dream about utopia, free people, no taxes, free land and much more... Wouldn't that be great? HUGS

I have always had the postition that we NEED the negative in life and living for various reasons...of course for the reasons you mentioned about specific jobs but also so we can fully understand what LIVING is about...You cant appreciate and understand the positive in life without the negative...You need to have balance IMO.. PLUS one thing to think about would be..IF there were all of a sudden to be no crime at all..how long do you REALLY think it would take for it to start up again out of frustration BECUASE so many jobs would be lost....I dont think it would take long at all ;-)

Well we would be very prosperous and very productive in other areas and extremely advance as a race and we would all be working less, not be slaves of a war machine thus be able to develop our spiritual natures more so nurtuting a greater evolution of the Human race. Just my 2 cents.

Hi Wolfie, Sure! In a few million years when Earth explodes and there is only 1 person left. Assuming he does not commit crimes against himself, the world will be free of crimes, yea!!! That aside, that world you mentioned can only be Utopia and Utopia as we know is a figment of our imagination.:P

Now isn't that a novel way of looking at things! I do understand what you are saying about economics and employment but if we didn't have crime then our economy would be better off and we could spend more on leisure etc and there would be more jobs created due to that and more money in education, health etc and lots of jobs there too! I do think we could survive without crime! xxx

I think it would be wonderful to live in a world without crime. I think the only people it would bother would be the news reporters because then they would have nothing to report. But it is said that we have to have a balance. If you have good you have to have evil as well. Still, a world without crime would be great.

Hello wolfie. It would be an ideal world to live in if it is a crime-zero one. Everything would be so different from what we are living in now. There would be a lot of jobs missing and for sure there would be more other jobs to be created. Anyway, it is just an utopia, which is not possible to be realized. Each individual has a different mind, good or evil, which leads them to do things differently from different angles of their world. Thanks.

Yeah but if we had no crime we wouldn't miss those jobs because they would never have been those jobs, so it is hard to say how we would feel about it. The people that are doing those jobs would be in different trades and we would not know the difference. But if it happened now after years of needing them, it would be devasting. Then we would have a problem with the economy with so many people trying out for the jobs that are available.

Policemen can serve in ways other than fighting crime. There are other cases for judges to work on other than criminal cases such as civil suits, administrative cases, business disputes, political crises, etc. Prison officers are also police officers so they can simply be reassigned. Lawyers, like doctors, also have specialties. Criminal law is only one of those specialties. I'd still take that crime-free world you are proposing. No one deserves to suffer in the hands of a murderer, rapist, etc.

Wolfie do you mind if I respond to this question as to my response while reading it? Here I go! What a stupid question? A life with out crime of any kind would be sweet bliss! Are you kidding me your worried about all those people being out of work. Your kidding me right? Imagine the creativity that would be flowing in this world when every one would be free to follow there dreams and use their talents. The possibilities are endless. Could we live without crime you ask? Think about it. Only then in a life without crime can anyone in this world truly be free to live their lives as we always hope and dream we can without worry and fear! Don't worry about the jobs mack, without the pain and suffering of crime we would probably have a much more productive carefree happy world!

Off course we can survive without crime. Hell I think the would be a lot better place if there was no crime. We wouldnt have to pay so many taxes on the police and such. Prices wouldnt be going up since everytime someone shoplifts. something they raise the price. We wouldnt have to worry about lawyers, or waste our money on alarms. Also it would be easier to open stuff because it is very hard to open some stuff because of the packaging when you buy it at a store.

In the future, we might just don't know. Maybe government made research on mutation nerves technology, chip implantation that can control any human life into one's purpose, leader's purpose. There we can live without cop or etc. But of course the underground forces, the opposing side who wants to live in freedom had been washed out from the surface. That time we can't feel anymore. We are just programmed since birth, to feed, to grown up, to be educated, to work, to breed, and to die. What's the color of that kind routine, we don't know. Because we didn't feel the sense anymore.

hi wolfie34, The idea of a world with no crime is the ultimate target. How to get there there is the real question... In my humble opinion, first get rid of poverty. I've worked in malawi(africa) for 1 year. Poverty lever is so bad that people would kill for anything, event spent food. Second, education is the key. Generally, people with less or no education is more likely to do crime. My teacher always say that education alone will make you a law abiding citizen but education with power (politician, CEOs, directors of CIA,KGB,MOSAD...etc) will give you the opportunity to do crime and get away with it. :-) third, change crime punishment law. I notice that most country use the term corrective. But i personally believe in preventive law. I must be out of my mind saying this... I believe seeing the sufferring of inmates on TV really have an effect on me to be a good citizen. anyway this is just my opinion, hope you "human rights" people don't go beserk on me. People needs law and order to keep living. Look what happen after hurricane kathrina.... survival instinct always triumph over rasional thinking.

I think that we absolutely could live in a world with no crime...but do I think that we will...no not a good chance in that because everyone wants to get ahead in this world and when they want that some are willing to take the short road out to get it...I think that it would affect everyone in a great way if we could..but we won't ever know for sure..
