What do you do?

I have a 5 year old son that day by day grasps what I do more and more. He knows that I go and fight. He asked me tonight what if I don't come home? What if I die? I don't exactally know how to explain that to him. All I can tell him is that I will come home but what if I don't? Will he look at me as a liar? My wife asks me how she will explain it to him? Give me some feed back on this.
