Are you the one who cleans the oven at your house? What method do you use? Do you utilize a chemical spray? How often do you do it?

modestah, My husband cleans my oven about once a year. Thats all it really needs as we are pretty careful with it. Its in need of a good cleaning right now, as it is after all of the holidays and that is generally when it takes a beating, all the cooking and baking. I am pretty lucky that he has always done these harder household chores for me. it started when I was working full time nursing and just never had the time to do it myself. Now its his job and habit LMAO

Hi there... Yes Im the one who cleans our oven, and I think I prefer to do this myself, because Im thorough and fussy... I use a spray called "Mr Muscle" and I leave it on for a good 1-2 hours, then wipe off excess with newspaper and then a throw away cloth, it always comes up sparkling...

I might have to look into buying mr muscle - my own mr muscle is all sore muscles by the time he has put in a hard week at work.

We have a self cleaning oven so we don't have to worry about using chemicals. I have used oven cleaning sprays where I worked in group homes. What a stink, we would open the windows in the kitchen and go outside for a while so we wouldn't have to smell it. ?And it was supposed to be odorless...lol

I have a self cleaning oven and that is all I use. I hate chemicals. Oven cleaner is great to clean grills up with though. You use them outdoors so the fumes do not bother you at all

growing up my mother used a self cleaning oven and my eyes would burn something fierce whenever she set it to clean.... for hours. I could never understand why that was - since she did not put anything in the oven - it just heated up really high (as far as I know)

I'm the one to clean the oven in our house - when I moved in here I don't think the oven had been cleaned in the 8-9 years it's been in the house. I cleaned it with a chemical cleaner the first time. Now, I just make sure it's wipped down weekly or as needed (some weeks it doesn't even get used).

I try to keep up with the oven, so I don't have to use the self-cleaning button because I'm sure the electric meter works double time when it it used. In the past I have used easy-off but I am reading on different ways to clean it that will not be a hazard to my health.

If it needs cleaning then I am the one that does it and I do use chemicals. My stove is relatively new so haven't had to do it in a very long time.

I don't think I've ever cleaned our oven in my life. Does that make me a bad person?
