Do you ever look back at your first discussions?

Yesterday I had an idea for a discussion but for some reason I thought I might have already started a discussion on it so I went back to the first discussions I started and there it was! So, I decided to forget about it but was thinking...would it be ok to do it again since the wording would be different I'm sure and it would be a year old. Have you ever looked back at your older discussions to see the topics you have discussed? Do you think it would be wrong to start a new discussion on a subject you already wrote about?

You got me there, I am a fledgling at this - started this only last night, so I will wait to see what an expert thinks to this good question! I have yet to start a discussion... all the ones that I think up someone else has already started. Hopefully that originality gene will hit me soon! Good luck

I have done this and left it be because I wasn't sure of what to do...but I've gone further than that.....The other day I was going to start a discussion when it came to my mind that I had thought one of my friends did it already and so I did the research through her discussions and found that she had eleven months ago and yet I had not responded at the time so I responded just this week and apologized to her for dredging up an old topic :) I'll be interested to see what answers you get here as I'm not sure what to do in this instance either! Thanks for posting this! :) ~Heavens~

I think posting the same discussion twice is against the rules. But if you have found another way of asking a question similar to the first post but not exactly the same, it should be okay. I don't look back to older posts. I just hope I am not repeating myself.

Sure, why not go retro? As long as you're not doing it on purpose and you're not stealing other people's discussions, or you're not repeating every discussion you've ever had in different words,it's Okay by me. I'm sure mylot will be as forgiving as I am.

Well I actually look at my previous discussions to see if it were replied to. At the same time to check if I will not be posting the same topic. Though as of the moment its still easy since I am new and its easy to verify all the post. Maybe time will come that it would be difficult later on as my post becomes plenty.

no, i can't even remember what my first discussion is... i had been here for more than a year and i had started so many discussions... i think it is wrong to start a discussion again on the topic that you had written about in the past... in my opinion, it is similar to cheating except that you are copying your own discussion... just my thought...

I don't think I ever have ctry. I think its ok to repeat it as long as its not word for word. If you can put another angle on it and perhaps ask a different question, then I can't see anything wrong with it.

I think its perfectly fine to start a discussion based on a topic you have already posted. After all there all are kinds of new people to post in the discussions. Events in their lives have changed and perhaps now they also can relate more to what you have posted. There are all kind of reasons that may have stopped them from responding the first time and all kinds of reasons for them to do it now. Good luck
