Do you dress up your dog or other pet?

I always see people who dress their dogs up in little crazy outfits - sometimes it's dog clothes but yesterday I saw a picture of someone who put their dog in a regular shirt & blue jeans! There's quite a crazy number of outfits for sale at the pet store - I've even seen hairpieces for dogs!
I guess I do not understand why people do this - I've had a few dogs as pets and never, ever did we even consider putting clothes on them! It seems kind of degrading to the dog to me, but then usually the dog doesn't seem to mind it either, so it's hard to say what the dog really thinks of wearing clothes - maybe secretly my dogs were mad I never dressed them up?
How about you? Do you dress your pets up? What kind of pets do you have? Why do you do it? Or do you think it's silly and unneccesary?

Although we do not have pets at the moment, when we did we never dressed them up to make them cutesy and I would never do that to a living animal, except for an occasional photo opportunity, perhaps, at at the county fair to temporarily decorate a winner.
However, we do go nutso dressing up our stuffed animals, especially the bears and elephants.

I think teddy bears should wear clothes...can't say I've seen a dressed elephant though!
