A newbie question - what does the star by your name mean?

Hi there
I have only been here for a day and have been wondering why some of you have a star. I gather that it is something to do with a rating but I can't find anywhere which explains it (i.e. how do you get it etc.?)
Could someone please enlighten me.

Welcome to the site. I don't know if you could really call it a "popularity" rating as that could be quite off-putting and imply you have to be popular here to get a good star rating. I am sure they are explained somewhere here on myLot. I think you can find more information about the star ratings here: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq11.aspx which is a set of FAQs about user ratings and myLot reputation.

Thank you for the BR (best response) on this one - I see you have achieved your star now and hope you don't get too hung up on it and spend too much time worrying about getting it up to the next number or colour (as some people tend to do instead of having fun here) - just enjoy the site and write as good responses and discussions as you can. x
