i am still wondering what causes hiccups, some believe that when you have them then it implies someone is calling you somewhere, here in nigeria, my tribe believes that sipping water 7 times halts it and it works for me anytime i try it.

As what I know, hiccups happens when our heart and lungs aren't in tune with one another. Usually, our breathing is in rhythm with the beating of our heart. When we received a shock or something, our heart misses a beat and the rhythm goes off. That's when we get hiccups. Drinking water helps because we take a huge breath and hold our breath when we drink water, which would stabilize the rhythm again.
