My fiance and I just got another dog. It's an american bulldog and he's like 11 weeks now. He has an area in the living room where he likes to keep all his toys. For some reason he likes to drag our clothes to this play area. He doesn't really ever chew or rip them up(not including my xmas slippers:'(). I just don't know what it is. I can't understand his obsessions with this. It's not just our clothes either, he drags his bath towel, our other dogs pillow, the blanket on the couch! Anything he can get his grips on is going in his little area. It's beginning to drive me alittle crazy because I'm a huge germaphobic. I hate to see my clothes and socks and blankets on the floor. Has anyone ever heard of this? And if so, what should I do?

Omg.. yes.. when my german sheperd was younger we had him living in the house for a while. And He would grab things out of the dirty clothes or even if a drawer was open , or just left on the floor or just laying around.. he would grab it and drag it around.. His favorite things were socks, underware and bras.. LOL.. Once my mom had just finish putting clean close away, she left her drawer open.. and he went and out he came dragging a bra.. LOL.. how embarrasing.. there was company in the living room.. I ran and grabbed it from him.. LOL.. my mom was so embarrased.. and its almost like he knew what it was he was grabbing, if there was a shirt or towel he wouldn't grab it.. just those items..But luckily he grew out of it..

Give your dog a blanket that he CAN have. Like what was said above - the stuff probably smells like you. And how can it spread germs if he takes laundry that you hadn't cleaned yet? It all comes out in the wash.

I think it's common with dogs, and probably because the clothes have your scent on them. My female German Shepherd was alone all day while I was at work, so I'd often come home to find an undergarment of mine in the middle of the hallway. She never chewed or anything, just took it from the dirty clothes and would deposit it elsewhere. Good thing I never brought company home with me!
