Have you ever saved someone's life?

I was tuned in to the Shoutcast Radio broadcast of Australian station Life FM 107.9 Spirit of the City (Adelaide), this morning (-8 GMT), and the hosts of the show talked about an old man who saved the life of a boy who was about to drown in a pond. I thought it was really amusing. See, when the boy's grandfather met the hero, the grandfather recognized him. It turned out that he was the same man who saved the boy's father! I don't know what country it happened, don't even know if it's true, even the hosts don't know. But if it's true... :'o Anyway, it made me thought about heroes and that they're all around us. Maybe you're one of them, wandering here amongst us "common" people.

I actually have. I drenched out a fire that was quite, well.. hot, while alarming my mom about it. We were living in a townhouse that time, so if I hadn't noticed the fire starting from the basement (electrical problem), all of the residents could've ended homeless or roasted.

Wow. Of all the disasters that I have to go through, I imagine that fire would be one of the worst. It's just... yes, hot. Fire is just the second of the most destructive "elements" of nature for me, second only to lightning. What happened then? Did you have a celebration? with something like "Yey! We're alive! Thank you 'Chinecie'!"? Did you get an award? A new cellphone maybe? ='p And how big was it already? :'o

That is amazing for both son and grandson to have been rescued by the same man. It doesn't seem like there are many heros here wishing to come forward but I am sure there are many. I have only ever saved myself and eight children from a house fire the 9th child had to jump but she was fine but to say I saved lives is an overstatement as the firebrigade arrived soon after and would have probably got us all out anyway and the other time was when my car set alight at a petrol pump. Idrove away from pump into road got us out and then waited for fire brigade, the newspaper did state that a disaster had ben averted, but all I knew was I needed to get car away from the petrol. I think the fire brigade are the heroes who risked their lives daily to save others. Ellie :D
