I eat to live, my husband lives to eat. He says he doesn't, that he just wants flavor, but what he is really saying is, I like junk food...lol
Though there are times that I also don't eat right, but it is more of a treat, than for survival.
Problem is, my husband bought this book years ago about healthy eating and it did more than tell you what is good to eat, it told you what the bad things that you eat do to your body and what the things you eat really are..For example, I completely stopped eating shrimp and never did try lobster, because they are *garbage eaters and what they eat affects you if you eat them..:p
*garbage being a nice word for something else..lol

Actually eating right isn't as hard as some make it out to be. Butter and eggs are good because they are natural, just don't "pig" out and try to get your food as organic as possible. I have not eaten margarine in years, (since reading this book), because all it is practically is yellow colored shortening which is really gross. At least the butter has nutrients in it and it is the missing nutrients in our diet that makes us overeat..
I can't remember the name of this book, but it made everything so simple, though I questioned the guys theory on milk, everything else made sense..
As for meats, the less you eat the better and no pork or "garbage" eaters are good for you..In fact it said that pork, depending on which part of the pig you eat a lot of, will show up on you in fat..For example, ham which is part of the rear of the pig, if you eat a lot, you will get more fat deposits in your rear..And I find the meat part easy anyways from reading the Torah or the old testament in the Bible. G♥d tells what meat is clean and unclean and there was a reason for it..Not that I believe someone will not go to heaven by eating pork or shrimp, you just might get there sooner..
I hope that made sense..:)

Gee and I love shrimp, lobster I can take it or leave it. Scallops are my fav cuz they were my Mom's fav I guess.
Most of those books lost me when eat margerine, butter is bad, now butter is OK, but margarin is bad. Eggs should be eliminated too much cholesterol, now there wasn't as much chol as we thought so moderation like three a week is OK.
Veggies grow on fertilizer, one things poo is another things nutrients. Take care

For me it's back and forth. I go through "fases" sometimes where I loooove cooking and creating different dishes.

I think it's hard to do esp. in the winter time. Esp for me right now, in the past I joined the Y or some other club and swam, exercised. This year I haven't had the money. Otherwise I could take my mind off it better.
I'm glad you're trying very hard, diabetes is difficult, but now the diet is a little more flexible, most things are OK in moderation. Take care and good luck. Thanks for responding.

I love food, I like the flavor of food and so I must say that I live to eat, however as I am getting into a healthier life-style and learning what is good and bad for you, I am beginning to eat to live. Junk foods aren't tasting as good anymore but fruit juices and some veggies and homemade foods are tasting fantastic!
