What program is the best to clear DVD+RW so you rerecord, or can you just overrecord like on a VCR?

I would just over record what I want. The system should ask you what you want to do.
Maybe you can erase what is on the DVD, but I never try to do it....

So, I can just use it in the same manner as my old VCR, and continue to record over and over. Does that effect the quality in any way?

Nero is the probably the bestest software for writing and re-writing CD's and DVD's...
Well its not a better option to rewrite DVD's at all, Better you buy some Writable DVD's instead of DVD-RW as DVD-RW don't work for more than 5 times and also cost of DVD-RW would be more than 5 times as of DVD-Writable. And DVD-Writable will store your data permanantly so that you can use it in future too...
Cheers And have a nice day...

Most DVD recording programs have the facility for this, usually in the form of a packet writing utility.
I tend to use Nero, which has the option in the recorder menu to erase a disk. I remember the same facility in Roxio, although it is a long while since I have used this program and cannot remember where the setting is.
Whichever program you are using should have the option, so it is a simple matter of checking the settings or having a quick look at the help menu.

Thank you for your reply. I've got several options to try, and I'm sure I'll find one that's easy for me.

I am not really good with this type of stuff but my DVD Recorder/Player has a menu that I can go in and select to erase what was recorded and then record on it again...that is as long as I didn't "finalize" the disk...once it is finalized then it is done - can't record anymore after the movie/program or on top of...

Thanks for your reply. I only bought my DVD recorder two weeks ago, so I'll check that out.
