If you have ever groaned after seeing the numbers on your bathroom scale then you know what I am talking about it is an endless battle with the bulge. Dieting has more ups and downs then a roller coaster ride just not so fun. If you have ever tooken diet pills, did fad diets, excercised to the point of exhaustion and still didn't lose and wondered why well maybe you eill get your answer here from something someone posts. I would like others if they would to leave their tips that worked or didn't, the do's the don'ts of dieting otherwise the good, the bad ,the ugly, What diet pills worked, what didn't. what exercise they got the most weight lost from. What foods worked what didn't . So if you have the time please leave us with something to chew over. Or stories of weight loss to help incourage those who still have far to go. Or have become discouraged and needs to get back on the battle fiels to fight the battle of the bulge and scales. Thanks you.

That is something that I haven't really had to struggle with over the years. I fluxuate 10 lbs. I think it's genetic. I was a herbalife distributor for a few years, and I did learn a few things! You can do protein meal shakes, for two meals and then eat one balanced meal. Eat Protein snacks in between, this helps you to stay full longer. Yogurt, nuts, cottage cheese, peanut butter etc. Green tea is supposed to also boost your metabolism. That's all I can think of right now!

Hello, Cool I just bought most of those things I got two can of protein meal mix. I don't know about the taste though since I got vanilla it might beYucky! I hope not. I also have a few boxes of green tea. Oprah is loving green tea and it's benefits right now. The only thing I don't have is the cottage cheeseDon't like it. well thanks for the respons I appreciate it and all the tips you gave and I hope it will help someone else as well as me. Thanks

I think I would brave eating the cottage cheese first because the only way I like tuna is if the taste is covered up with mircle whip, onions and pickles not exactly a healthy way to eat it unless you get the Kraft light or fat free. But thanks for the information.

I don't like cottage cheese plain, I like it with fruit. Tuna is another good source of protein. Have a happy day

I too, am a food addict. I have in the past tried low carb, low this, low that, diet pills which did nothing but in the end help make me gain more, but the fact of the matter is, I eat out of emotion. I am addicted to food. But the more I am figuring out my reasons for eating, the more I am able to resist sugars and fast food and stuff. I still need to work on my portions. But what I think works is EATING WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY AND STOPPING WHEN FULL!! And eat frequently in the day, like 5-6 small meals with some added exercise. It's slow but it is working.

I gave up on diets, I can't do them, but when I did the most I would lose before giving up is about 30 pounds, and the best diet was weight watchers, slow but reliable. I stopped because I couldn't afford it anymore.

I gave up on diets too that is the problem, I let myself go and now I regret it. I have gained alot of weight in a years time. I used to go on diets every other month maybe lose a 25-30 pounds then put it back on before long and now I am having alot of health problems. I was even told by my Doctor last time I visited that i had to lose or risk dying. I have trouble walking, doing dishes even I have to sit. So I am wanting to lose weight and try to stick to it. I love weight watcheers my mom was on that program and so was alot of my family. I couldn't afford it though and my husband doesn't understand he thinks it is just going get weighed and get a few recipes. I know it offers support I really do need. But that is life never having enough when we need it. Or not being satisfied when we do.Thanks for the response.

I do not work at a job either. I just wish I could afford it because I figured it would help me alot having a buddy system and being able to go to meeting would be a big help and I wouldn't be so fast to jump off the diet becuase I would have others to answer to when I gained the weight. It seems I have dieted forever also I have always been overweight even as a child over 90% of my entire family and relatives is overweight as well. I have been on some form of diet since for as long as I can remember. But the year I remember starting most was age 7 and I have been on some form of diet on and off ever since. I am almost 34 now. I can never stay for the long haul something or someone I should say is always bumping me off the diet wagon. I know all kinds of information about dieting I have read a ton of books most of them telling me that the other books are wrong and do it this and that way It has me me so confused I don't know what is right or wrong. Only thing that has worked is eating smaller, but more frequent meals and exercise Now if I could just do that for the rest of my life I be set.

probably not going to like my answer. frankly i think weight dont matter. ive thought so many over weight people were just beautiful. then when i get upset at a really mean person like my sons gf, i do think a person like that is a fat pig! only because shes not only overweight but its noticed more for someone mean and ugly. anyway, i used to weigh 152 before i got sick 3 yrs ago. im only 5'2". i went down to 117! i just looked gross then. wrinkles. loose skin, etc. now im coming back up again. 138 last dr. visit. looking better i dont think thin people make it thru sickness very well. hubby was thin and he went really fast. had nothing to fight with.

I think that if you are or a large build, that if even you go to what is recommended, you will not succeed. People say that the worse is your lack of willpower, but it is not so, it is lack of exercise, and there are many reason, one that is you cannot walk around all the time, climb the steps, continuously because you need seven to eight hours of sleep. You gain weight or do not lose it because you cannot exercise that long and if it is winter five to six months during the year, then you do not get out of the house as much. I find that it is when the snow was gone, I could walk forty-five minutes a day, that I lost. Even if you have healthy food in the house, lettuce, salads, broccoli, all good, milk in the morning, green tea, fruits and vegetables, there are still others, breads, buns, cereal, cakes, cookies, also around so you have to get out at least for an hour a day. Diet pills work temporaily and they work best when you use them in addition to exercise and eating healthy. I am still trying them out and I am allergic to some of them, so I have to be careful.

My husband is slim so he doesn't need to diet and that means they are junk food in the house that call my name from the cupboards from time to time in a weak moment. So it is good to get ou to fthe house when that time hit if possible I am wanting to get a bike when I lose 100 pounds. That is my goal right now I have alot to lose but taking it 10-20 pounds at a time and set that up as goals. You gotta be careful some pills don't list all their ingredients(which they have been in trouble for) and it can cause an alleric reaction in some. I used relacore did great on it but it cause me to have abmornal hair growth on my arms and face. So you have to outweight the options hairy and lose weight or fat and not so hairy. Thanks for the response.

I am not a medical specialist or whatever similar , but for me having taken a harsh diet program , like taking diet pills or else might bring you to a critical health state ... it's an endless situation... My advise , for those thinking about having diet prgram, forget it.. just take care and controlling your meals everyday naturally, dont force it... it better ...

Hey there pclife, Thanks for your response I appreciate it and the good advice you give. Trying to force it will just leave you back where you started or worse. You have to want it and want it bad enough to sacrifice your food hard to do if you have a compulsive eating disorder. I struggle with that alot. Well again thanks and I hope your advice will be of help to others.

Good thing we don't have a bathroom scale around the house. I am more concern on how I look rather than on the weight. I have tried those diet teas on the market and sadly it did not worked on me. I also tried fasting but after breakfast, I cannot handle the the starving thing. What I do now is eat in moderation and exercise. I do cardio and some leg lift-because my legs are my problem area. And I'm happy with the result. I have been doing this for only 2 weeks and I can say that I have lost some weight because I can see a slimmer waistline and my thighs are getting smaller. I need to work more to achieve the desired look that I want.

Maybe having a scale is a bad idea becausae we are always getting on it and disparing about the weight and it is always reading a different number throughout the day and that worries alot of people but flucuates regularly throughout the day due to water comsumptions and foods. I have a thigh problem as well. Great job in slimming down and good luck with the rest of the weight you want to lose. Thanks for the response.

Dieting. Getting overweight (or rather, fat) is a problem that plagues many. Even the supposed "skinny" want to diet from time to time. I think exercising is still the best to shed weight. And coupled with eating healthy and not overeating, it is the best form of dieting. But it is not easy at all. The road of dieting is a tough one to take.

Yeah the overeating is the hard part. Trying to get to know your bodies signs that it is full and learning new ways of eating can be fun to experiment with but it is easier to have a friend along for the weight loss ride. They will help incourage you when needed and help you celebrate when you lose to your goal. I am stuck up a holler,no car,no friends really, I spend the majority of my day alone. So that can be hard to stay focused on weight loss. I am sure I am not alone in that either. I went to the grocery store yeasterday and spent $270 on healthy foods and didn't get alot. It just cost so much, but the upside is that it cost more but you eat less so it goes farther then usual if you continue to stay focused all month. Thanks for the advice I appreciate it and I am sure others will also. Can't wait till it warms up enough to start walking. I am going to try to get a walking group going even if it is just a few. Better then nothing. I have to be careful though because I have alot of back, knee and hips prolems. Again thanks.

I took diet pills. I don't agree that they only work while you are taking them. I guess it may depend on what kind you are taking. I took prescription ones. Phentermine, to be exact. I loved them. But they aren't for everyone. I lost 70 and have gained 20 back due to a back injury early last year. Right at a year ago actually. I've kept the rest off for a couple of years now. I do workout and watch what I eat though. It isn't just about dieting. You really have to change your life. The way you eat and the way you look at eating. Your entire outlook has to change for the better or you won't keep it off.

Dieting is not fun, excericise is sooo boring diet food doesn't work, I am sick and tired of shopping for all that food that the diet books says to go out & buy, I have been on...and I don't think Iv'e missed any....every single diet on the market...I have followed everything they said to do only to find myself frustrated, disapointed and crying into my green tea, Just when I had given up hope and almost accepted my self for what I had become...an over weight frump with no appeal...and believe me I was use to being out there with the best..never lacking for attention...winning the crown..the best looking guys..etc.. then found my self working for a worldwide corp hiding in my office behind closed doors..and I found the solution... a chocolate that is loaded with antioxidents. vitamins & minerals that decreases your appetite, I take one whenever I feel hungry and then later have a sensible meal, It literally takes away the desire to eat the wrong foods because your brain is satisfied with the neutriants & vitamins that it craves, I was blown away by this, I lost 9 1/2 lbs in two weeks and couldn't loose 5lbs on those other fad diets in months...how happy am I..:) mtdewgurl if you want more info send me a pvt msg and will be happy to help you out, I am somewhat new to this board and haven't yet set up my complete profile but I am available to help out :) Take care

Well first the pills only work while you are taking them. As soon as you stop you gain the weight back. (sigh) But as far as a workout that does help you loose fat I would say aerobics. You have to get your body moving be running, walking, dancing, find something you like to do that gets your heart rate up and keep it up for I have been told atleast 20 min. also you have to make sure you don't do the crash diets. you know only eat salad as long as you are eating healthy foods and this can include fish, lean beef, lean pork, chicken. just watch portions don't eat until you are stuffed and make sure you get atleast your BMR. if you go under this your body goes into a mode that saves all the calories you eat. Until it is to the point that it has to eat up what muscle you have then you just loose muscle and see the scale go down. Not a healthy way to loose weight and boom you decide to start eating again and you gain all the weight back plus some. It sucks buy you have to change your eating habits forever and not just go on diets for awhile.

Hey,The pills help surpress our apetites and when we stop taking them we revert back to the old ways. I have tried to chage my eating habits and do great till 25-30 but then I get discouraged easily and I bounce off the wagon. Iadmit I am a food addict I but I can't seem to stop continueing on the same path with is really depressing for me,I don't know about others. But thanks for the advice I apprecite it and hope others will be able to use it as well. Hey metschica25, Thanks for the incouragement it is greatly appreciated. I struggle most days with my weight of what to or not ot eat. I guess once a comulsive eater always. But with the people here at mylot giving me confidence and incouragement I am hoping to make it. I have 35 pounds till I reach my goal of losing 100 pounds..and I am hoping to lose that by my birthday on July 5th. I will wisely take your advice and reach for those brass rings of wisdom of someone who been there, and delaing with it.Again all my thanks.
