dual core and core 2 dual both are processors with 2 processing cores. difference is that dual core is built on older pentium 4 architecture and core 2 duo is built on intel's new core architecture. core 2 duo are more efficient than the older dual core Pentium Ds... Did you get it or more explanation is needed?? just ask...

Pentium D is a Dual core CPU built on older architecture. The newest in processor is quad-core processors, where in a single processor chip has 4 execution cores. Intel has done a lot of work in this field and has come up with more power full instruction set and other useful architectural changes which increases security, decreases power consumption and more efficient processors. Check out this page for information on newest architectures: http://www.intel.com/technology/architecture-silicon/index.htm?iid=technology_lhn+architecture-silicon

The Pentium D was Intel's first attempt at Dual Core processors. They had serious overheating problems and weren't as fast as people expected. the AMD Athlon64 X2 processors were better in almost every test. About a year later Intel came out with the Core 2 Duo processors built with better architecture that are superior to the Pentium D and AMD Athlon X2s in every test.

LOL. "core2 duo" is a name of dual core processor made by intel. not "core to duo". There's core duo and core2 duo! got it? the intel factory is in my country.

Well its pretty simple to differ between these two technologies. Intel first made Dual core and it causes much problem like overheating and its performance became slow due to that. And then they make Core2Duo which is even faster than Dual core processor, And consumes less power. So people like to buy core2duo processor, But the price difference makes people to buy dual core as it doubles the cost for Core2Duo processor.
