What brands of snacks and dog food are the safest?

I give my dogs sliced carrots for a snack. They love them, and they are low calorie (and cheap)

I suppose the surest and safest doggy treats would be something that you yourself make for him rather than a prepackaged store purchase deal. my dog happens to love to eat raw carrots (cooked too) if I offer her a bit of carrot as a treat she is very happy. I reckon that is safe enough!

Apparently the Hills Science Foods for pets are by far the best for dog food & treats. But they are quite expensive.
