My mother has an orange cat who thinks he owns the house! Every morning he will meow and demand his treats, and heaven help us if he doesn't get them. He will follow us around and keep demanding. What his biggest pet peeve is is getting locked in a room. In the mornings he is let into my room so he can eat but when he is done is will scratch and meow until I get out of bed and let him out. My question is am I alone in this royal behavior? Has he got us trained? Must I get a cat door for all our doors?

oh my goodness, you are not well trained in the cat world, first off, cats rule whom ever is in their sight at the moment, and if no one is there Lord help the next person who is because cats have staff, namely you, and it would appear from you discussion you are not up to snuff, I understand as I am a part slave/servant/staff to a cat named Abby, who complains to her true staff (my brother and his wife) that I do not attend to all her needs and wants in a timely fashion. Now there is no sense in trying to overcome you lack of what ever it is that the cat feels you lack because being feline they will only find something else wrong, I know I have been there and done that. I have often mentioned that I am looking for a good recipe for brown Kitten stew and that sort of keeps her claws closed,

I dont think anyone ever owns a cat, they own you! If you dont give in to what they want they will let you know about it, either that or they will go and get it from someone else, because cats know how to play people! If my cats come in asking for food I sometimes wouldnt feed them because they hadnt long been fed, and so the sneaky things used to go around someone elses house and get fed there! I could tell this is what they were doing because they used to get really fat at certain times of the year and so I knew they were being fed elsewhere. Cat doors are a good idea.
