What CPU are you using in your computer? Why did you choose that one?

I have an Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 in my main computer. It was the best deal in the price range that I was looking at. At $125, the E4500 was only $10 more than the AMD Athlon64 X2 5200+ which was the comparable chip. I chose the E4500 over the X2 5200+ because the E4500 runs cooler, the stock HS&Fan is incredibly quiet and the E4500 overclocks like crazy even while using stock cooling. I use an AMD Athlon64 3000+ in mu other computer. I bought that processor almost 5 years ago now. It has been a great chip. At the time it was the best deal in its price range. At the time, the AMD processors were significantly cheaper than their Intel counterparts and they performed better in gaming apps. I need the Athlon64 3000+ for gaming as well as other things at the time. What processor(s) are you using? Why did you choose that one? Are you happy or do you wish that you would have made another selection?

I have dealt with many P4 CPUs including the 2.0GHz variety. I remember when Intel introduced Hyperthreading to their P4 line. HT was a groundbreaking feature when it was first implemented. The Prescott chips ran much too hot though. I currently have an Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 2.2GHz CPU in one of my computers. It is a wonderful processor that is incredibly fast and even the stock HS&Fan is whisper quiet. Migrating to Windows XP 64-bit with the help of the E4500 has been a breeze.
