Torrent Sites And Movie Downloadz

March 11, 2008 7:27am CST
There are a large number of Torrent sites around these days, I can imagine DVDs sales will be going futher and futher downhill as people are Downloading them instead. My main Question to eveyone is... Should these Torrent Sites be so easily accessible?? Or Should we all buy DVDs in shops instead and completely ban downloading them??

Torrent sites all the way for me. You pay £10 - £15 for a new dvd when it only costs peanuts to make. If they were not so expensive in the 1st place and came on to dvd alot quicker then sales might go up again. The best way to stop pirate copying/downloading would be for the studio's themselves to have an official website where people can download the latest films at a fraction of what it would cost on buying dvds or going to the cinema. It would also save on polution.

Downloading movies takes a lot of time.If your net speed is fast even then it takes hours to download. Its better to buy the DVD and watch than downloading it.If you download you will have to burn it to watch it again in the future but if you buy it you have it already on DVD and you can watch it any time.

Very true. Downloading a film does take sometimes all night, and the cost of the electricity bill goes up and up and would probably equal the amount of the cost of a DVD. A plus side is that if you download and burn it, you can burn copies for you friends and family for them to keep rather than borrow your new DVD that you want to keep in good condition!!

I think downloading is fine if you pay for it and a portion goes to the movie companies. A lot of people don't want a bunch of DVDs, CDs, etc cluttering up their house. It's probably better for the environment..not having to produce more junk that eventually ends up in landfills and not having to use energy to produce them.

Very good comment, I have quite a large collection but have started downloading recently and can convert the films to fit sometimes 3 on one disc!! Very good space saver!! But yes if you pay for it then it should go to the producing companies definately.

The purpose of downloading movies for me is to try them out. I can't afford to buy a DVD I'm not sure I'm going to like, and I can't afford to constantly rent movies or pay for the rental services. So it's nice for me to be able to download something and see if I like it, and then I buy the DVDs for the ones I like. Sure, the company isn't making any money off the downloads, but there are still plenty of people who buy the DVDs, and I don't know anyone who only download and never buys... everyone I know who downloads will also buy movies they really like to get the extras and everything.

I say to each their own, I dont use sites like this because I'd prefer to own the DVD anyways. Also with the computer knowledge and what not nowadays I'd be afraid that I would somehow get caught. I always tell mom that if I am going to jail for anything its not gonna be because I was downloading movies lol

Its suprisingly easy to download films without being caught... you dont always need to register on the sites to access the content and considering the amount of other people downloading its likely that you won't have the PoPo at your door!! I think it should be the Uploaders and Leakers that should get in trouble for putting them on the net in the first place. If the police wanted to they could shut down the sites!

And to top things off... you pay your £6.00 to watch a film and you have some annoying little 5hits ruining the movie
