Dallas Cowboys 2008 Draft

What do you guys think about the upcoming draft?
Its on April 26 - 27 which is about a month and a half away. We've spent most of Free Agency signing our own guys, and our big splash was Zach Thomas who technically doesn't count because we signed him before the Free Agency period. Our two first round picks have me drooling, but I hope Jerry doesn't waste them in trying to get McFadden. I personally believe we need to go best player available for the whole draft, but I would love it if Leodis McKelvin feel into our laps. I just don't want our 1st day picks to end up like Bobby Carpenter who is only used during special teams, his got talent at the best least get him some playing time other then special teams.

In my mock of the first round I have the Cowboys taking Felix Jones RB out of Arkansas (now that Julius is a Seahawk) and James Hardy, a big receiver out of Indiana. I have heard tons of rumors about Jones mocing up to get McFadden though since he's a Razorback alum. One thing is for sure it should be a very exciting draft day. I'm counting the days.

I just don't really think its beneficial to the Cowboys to draft a RB in the first round when we have MArion Barber about to hit the big bills if he follows up on that Pro Bowl season he just had. But I still don't like Felix Jones as a first rounder at all. The running back class is deep, so I think it would be wiser to wait till the second round for Felix if his still there. The only Running back in the first round I like is Mendenhall. In the second round, assuming the big 4 rbs don't fall, I like Chris Johnson and in the third I like Ray Rice. Johnson reminds me of Brian Westbrook while Rice reminds me of Emmitt Smith. Another person I'm going to keep an eye on is Steve Slaton.
Also I like Peton Hillis and Owen Schmitt at Full Back position. I think Deon Anderson is great, but those two are just so exciting to watch and adds another part to the offense.

I agree that they need to take a RB. But then with the second pick, they really should go for a CB, but only if they fail to sign pacman. Because if they Get Jones it won't be a concern at all.

I think we need a tight end ala Moose Johnston. Part of the reason Emmitt Smith gained so many yards was Moose busting open holes for him. If we give Marion Barber that, watch his dust.
We should NOT waste draft picks trading up to get McFadden. he might be great. he might not be great too. Better to use those drafts on other guys. Even if you go only 50%, that is 50% of 6 guys which is 3 players. There is no 50% if you blow it all on one guy.
Also, stop trying to trade for Pacman. He will never be reinstated. Even if he is, he will just get suspended again, thereby wasting cap money and a roster spot.
