Its only tips to reduce. We all know we cannot stop Global Warming easily. So, at least we can do something like this one. They are very easy to do. Tip 20 Ways to Reduce Global Warming 1. Get Educated * Educate yourself about Global warming. You won't be able to tell other people about it if you don't have knowledge of the topic yourself! 2. Recycle more * 15-25% of people don't recycle. Try to recycle more. If you don't have a recycling bin, go to you nearest recycling center and ask where you can get one. 3. Act Collectively * Acting individually is not enough to solve this global problem. We must bring pressure to bear on power holders and decision makers in government to promptly and decisively act on the national and international levels to curb greenhouse gas emissions. 4. Use Compact Fluorescent Bulbs * Replace 3 frequently used light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs. Save 300 lbs. of carbon dioxide and $60 per year. 5. Keep your Car Tires Inflated * Keep the tires on your car adequately inflated. Check them monthly. Save 250 lbs. of carbon dioxide and $840 per year. 6. Change Your Air Filter * Check your car's air filter monthly. Save 800 pounds of carbon dioxide and $130 per year. 7. Fill the Dishwasher * Run your dishwasher only with a full load. Save 100 lbs. of carbon dioxide and $40 per year. 8. Use Recycled Paper * Make sure your printer paper is 100% post consumer recycled paper. Save 5 lbs. of carbon dioxide per ream of paper. 9. Buy Products Locally * Buy locally and reduce the amount of energy required to drive your products to your store. The consumable products we all purchase represent over half of the average family's carbon footprint! 10. Spread the Word * There is a logo called CarbonCounted that companies can put on their products to communicate their carbon footprint. Look for products that have a low CarbonCounted footprint number. 11. Buy Energy Certificates * Help spur the renewable energy market and cut global warming pollution by buying wind certificates and green tags. 12. Buy Minimally Packaged Goods * Less packaging could reduce your garbage by about 10%. Save 1,200 pounds of carbon dioxide and $1,000 per year. 13. Buy a Hybrid Car * The average driver could save 16,000 lbs. of CO2 and $3,750 per year driving a hybrid. Plug-in hybrids can save even more and give cash-back (see V2G). 14. Buy a Fuel Efficient Car * Getting a few breathe. Save 2,000 lbs. of carbon dioxide per year. 15. Insulate Your Water Heater * Keep your water heater insulated could save 1,000 lbs. of carbon dioxide and $40 per year. 16. Replace Old Appliances * Inefficient appliances waste energy. Save hundreds of lbs. of carbon dioxide and hundreds of dollars per year. 17. Weather Strip your Doorways * Caulk and weather strip your doorways and windows. Save 1,700 lbs. of carbon dioxide and $274 per year. 18. Use a Push Mower * Use your muscles instead of fossil fuels and get some exercise. Save 80 lbs of carbon dioxide per year. 19. Unplug Unused Electronics * Even when electronic devices are turned off, they use energy. Save over 1,000 lbs of carbon dioxide and $256 per year. 20. Plant Trees. Many Trees. Source: Wikihow

great post, most of it is really plain common sense but i guess often times common sense is not really common. i am not really a global warming watcher, but i do all you mention (except #13) but we are talking about it specially now that the gas price is going way too high. it is not mentioned there but we saved so much water bill by not flushing the toilet as often as we want it to be and we have the water saver one. no we're not trying to live a nasty life but if you have a person in your house who uses bathroom to pee like 30x a day i guess it is not wise to flush it that much specially if you are just 2 person in the home, i feel there is no need to do that much, for me that is way too much of a waste. i also try to reuse the water i use to wash vegetables by watering our house plant by that water. anyway, i think there are millions way to help our world, it's just that sometimes we are TOO LAZY to do it coz we are so use of convenience in our life. takecare!

true, we rarely go out really mostly during weekends. we're thinking about buying us a scooter or a bike coz it goes 90mpg or if it's just near we can use our bikes. we like to travel and visit family and friends and we think having a hybrid car is really smart specially in our times now. appreciate the suggestion though! takecare!

Does that carbon footprint mean people in the Western World should not have any children? That was proposed by some lady in Britain. So you have to be careful of what you propose. I do believe the other things are sensible although since global warming is a natural cycle and God is in control, that God will laugh at us for doing these things to prevent global warming. I do believe these come under the heading of being frugal, not wasting energy, and being managers of the Earth. Does mean once the earth is cooled and we in the North will have to import our fruits and melons earlier because our growing season is shorter, that you will stop doing these things to 'save' the Earth? As for some of the things, Hybrid cars are bit too expensive here in Canada for the average buyer, so we will wait until they come down in price. The same for alternative fuel, it will have to go down in price so the average person can buy the new furnace, etc. And in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta, we still get snow in winter here and it does get down to minus 40 degrees, so I guess while you people in India, the Phillipines, etc. had global warming, it sort of missed us.

How do you know God will control it? It might hard but it doesn't mean we can not do it.

God does control the weather. So we do not know whether those unusual cold spells some place or some unusual hot spells are HIS doing. Also HE puts in the hearts of men what will work and what will not. For instance, you seem to say that the global warming is caused mainly by man and that is led to its ultimate conclusion is to eliminate the people who drive cars, use the most fuel, etc. but if you do that, civilization will collapse, people will die, yes in those lands like in Asia and Africa where the people are in your opinion decent and caring for the environment. But supposing God puts in the heart of a man to find an alternative fuel, to make it easy for people to recycle and get paid for it and all us westerners do not have to be blamed.

I do as much as I can. I've only recently came to a place that does recycling so I finally can do it and I feel so better about being able to do it too. I hated wasting all of that stuff we used and not being able to get them recycled. And don't forget to walk, bike or take public transportating any time you need to go somewhere if you can. If you can't do that, make one trip do all.

Jakarta is getting hotter every year, and sea level getting higher as the effect of global warming. and polluted is getting worse because today everyone use their own vehicle. But most people in Jakarta still didn't have enough knowledge about climate and its related science. Thanks for the information. www.giftyoumore.com

avoid using vehicles when it is totally easy to travel with other means where more people travel in the same vehicle.. this will reduce the use of fuel and hence the global warming.

Yes, but it depends on the public transport a lot.

I agree with all those but number 7, why use a dishwasher when you can wash dishes by hand, saving electricity and water. The point I agree most with is 3, we should all individually do what we can but it is more important for governments to act. I think there should be more laws made so that new building or commercial developments can only go ahead if they include solar panels or wind turbines and other environmentally friendly features.

number 7 is if you have dishwasher or washing machine or dryer. All is the same!
