Our very own, the MassKara Festival is my favorite among the Philippine festivals. Held every third week of October, each year. The word MassKara is a fusion of the English word "mass" or many and "kara", the Spanish word for "face". Masskara then becomes a "mass of faces". The MassKara festival started in 1980. It was the year that Bacoldnon experienced depressing situations. There was an economic crisis due to the low price of sugar and the hearthbreaking accident, the Don Juan vessel sank that killed many Negrosanon. The festival was made to hide the sorrow of the bacolodnon with the smiling and happy masks. It is also a declaration that no matter how tough and bad the times were Bacolod city is going to pull through, survive, and in the end, triump. www.bacolodcity.gov.ph/bacolod_masskara_festival.htm

Wow, that was two-thumbs up for Bacolodnon for making a way for you to survive the crisis and so now your province is known and flocked during this festival. I would love to see it someday. I bet it's quite a revelry.

I live in Quezon City and we don't have those colorful, lively festivals you people are mentioning so the closest I can mention is during New Year's Eve because of lots of fireworks.

Mine, would be Penagbenga the baguio flower festival. I think Penagbenga means "the gathering". I also like the Pistay dayat in pangasinan

I prefer the Dinagyang Festival of Iloilo City because of the great mass participation that will really make your day when you're there to witness the event. All the roads and highways are closed during the festival to accommodate restaurants and stores along the way. I also prefer our very own Kadayan Festival. That's in Davao City. I like it since I always remember the good times in my childhood years in that place.

Since I am from Davao City, I love Kadayawan which happens during August and of course the Araw ng Dabaw. Kadayawan reminds me of rambutan since it is rambutan's season. :)
