I have been a shaman for many years in the United States. Personally, I have mingled both Native American and Celtic beliefs as well as assorted other aspects when performing rituals. I am always curious to learn about other shamans and how they perform rituals, especially if they work with traditions I am not familiar with. As many of you probably know, shamanic culture is different in every area of the world. Shaman itself is more of an all encompassing term that describes the holy man or medicine man of a tribe.

..I'm not a shaman.. or medicine woman, or anything like that.. but I am very spiritual. One time I was on a fishing and camping trip with some family and friends. We were all around the campfire in the evening when one of the women complained that she had never, ever caught a trout in the little trout fishing stream we were fishing, and had all been coming to for quite some time.. In my mind, I wanted to get up and do what I was thinking of as a 'power dance' around her (to the music which was playing). I didn't of course, my friends and relatives would have thought I was quite crazy! I did however say a prayer for her.. and she caught a good sized trout the next day, which I thought was kinda kool..

The power of thought is underestimated :-). Often times, that's as simple as a ritual needs to be.

It would be interesting to see if there are any other shamans out there and what their experiences are. Good question!

Thank you. It would be very interesting indeed as we are essentially the black sheep of the Pagan beliefs. So much of the Pagan community is wrapped up in Wicca and Witchcraft that shamanic posts are often overlooked or never even posted.
