The Dangers of Alcohol...

Ok, a tragic event, which happened last week, has brought me to say "Cigarettes are not the only dangerous addiction". It's time to consider the effects of Alcohol when misused, as well. Oh, I'm no teetotal; I enjoy my beer, but I don't abuse this potentially lethal commodity. I drink only once or twice a week, and in moderation, and I enjoy the social side of a pub. I also smoke, and have cut that by at least half, and I believe that in moderation, neither is lethal, but get addicted, and abuse either, and your life is at serious risk. Last week, a friend of my younger son, a guy of 42 years, went out for his usual Saturday night drink. He overdid it a bit, and stumbled from the pub into a cab, to go to a pub near his home. He went into the pub, had another drink and a fight broke out. (This is in a very rough area of Brighton, where fights happen regularly). The police were called by the landlord, and my son's friend arrested, and put in a cell. On checking his cell one hour later, the police found him lying dead. When questioned about his condition on leaving the first pub, the taxi driver had said that the pupil of one of his eyes, was white. All the colour had gone. This, to me, is a tragic waste of a life. This guy got in with the wrong set of people, and strayed, a few years ago, admittedly, but he never got back onto the straight and narrow. He became addicted to alcohol, and this proved to be his demise. What a waste of a life! So, please take heed, all of you. If you feel yourself sinking into alcohol abuse, then please, please, do yourself a favour and get help!!! Have any of you suffered a fatality this way, with a friend? Do you think some restrictions should be levied on the sale of alcohol? How do you think this type of incident can be averted in the future? Do you think smoking and alcohol abuse are equally dangerous, or would you stress one or the other to be more dangerous. Let's discuss this!

LIke you donte in moderation no harm reall y for we all are going to die sometime. and here the bar tender has to cut the person off from drinking if they know they have had to much and send them home. and they get an achol test to see how much they have had if the cops get them if this was done for this poor feller they then might have seen he was in trouble. Here if one drinks to much and bartender dont cut them off they can be find for it. So sorry this had to happen to any one specially some one you knrew hugs

Thank you, my dear friend. Yes, I knew him really well as he and my Son grew up together. He lost his mother and father at a quite young age... but, always had his brother. Now, there is only the brother left, and I find that sooooooooo sad. Yes, I think here also, the bar staff, or at least the landlord, should have more control over what a customer drinks. Brightest Blessings, love and hugs. xxx

Thank you for your sentiments my dear friend. Yes, all the sad things seemed to be coming during the early part of this year, is for sure, but last night, my heart was warmed by a panto that my little granddaughter's school put on. I won't tell you about it now, because I've posted a discussion on it, but I had a great night. Brightest Blessings.
