How do you learn to control emerging abilities?

If you feel, as I now do, that you are right on the edge of paranormal sensitivity, is there any way to become more connected. I felt more in tune with the supernatural when I was younger, but years as a scientist seemed to dull the connection. Now, after years as a student of the unusual, I seem to be experiencing more and more. I'm not scared by any of it, but I would like to know if it is possible to increase the sensitivity, to control it better.

and we meet again.. =o)
not quite on the cusp of my beginners sensitivities, but understanding where youre coming from, i felt compelled to respond here.
everyone is born with the inherant abilty to sense, feel, see.. these things that most of the populice deems "paranormal" they are in fact quite normal, but are raised out of us. as children, we are told monsters dont exist, no such thing as ghosts, its all in your imagination. we are TAUGHT to supress it. at an early age, our senses become dulled by what we are told by parental figures. "imaginary" friends cease to exist, and we no longer beleive in magic or otherworldly creatures. some with stronger senses, never outgrow it, but just stop talking about as to not be sent to bed without dinner for making up stories. the shift of balance goes off kilter, the senses are shoved into the subconcious, and "logic" takes over. can you fine tune and reawaken these senses? absolutely. everything you need to do this rests in what you used to possess.. innocence and an open mind.

Open mind I can handle. Innocence may be harder to come by. I sometimes feel the opposite is true anyway. Darker thoughts, more "evil" intentions, seem to bring me closer to where I felt I was. Perhaps some of us should not "peel back the layers of quiet life"?

Thanks for your responses. There is much more that could be discussed about this, but that is not for this venue. "Beware the power of the Dark Side" will have to do.

evil or dark, or whatever name you wanna use to categorize it, is always easier to tap into than "good" and pure. it feels more powerful, its definitely more seductive, and for those reasons, those with a lack of self control and discipline ( and downright impatience ) choose that route. they go after power and glory rather than developing their own.. but there is always a price to pay when trading off for rewards of power. youre wise to question whether its a good idea to delve deeper. ive said more often than i can count to be careful what you wish for, and to use caution in how you seek it. me personally, i didnt really have any choice in what i was given. it all just sort of fell into my lap and i had to roll with it and learn by trial and error in ways of control and discipline. now? if i didnt have it, id feel defective. its a part of who i am, not just what i do. you always have a choice in which direction you take it. the only real question is, do you really want what you think you do?

Wow, that's good. You have real magic?
If you start a Harry Potter school, tell me. I am interested to enroll.

Congratulations, you have been accepted. That'll be $500 for the enrolment fee, and your first easy payment of $9990.99 will be due next month. After just 24 monthly payments at that amount, you'll officially be initiated by dunking your head in a vat of manure until you agree to not be a smart-a**.
I never said I had magic, but I do have a magical sense of humor, don't ya think!
Thanks for responding. :}

Um. I wasn't trying to be funny with you. The question was genuine.
I asked because you mentioned emerging abilities.

I was afraid of that. How do you like my school's pricing? It would take alot of dough to do something like that! I certainly wouldn't be a teacher, though. I've got too much to learn myself. :)
