Lap tops

Hello all i am about to get my first lap top but i have no idea what to get , i wont be downloading music picture ect it will be used for networking only . so what kind is best i am looking at a sony vaio i have the desk top and it is great i also have a acer desk top with vista and it is crap lol so here i am on my old pc and i love it . but i need to have ideas what to buy . Oh ya under 1000.oo

I got a Dell Inspiron 1200 for under $1000 and I love it - I still can't get used to the built in touch pad thing so got a mouse I plug into the usb port.

I have Sony Vaio laptop and I am very happy with it. I have it for over 4 years now and it is running fine.
I know that people are happy with Dell and Toshiba too.

My husband got a Gateway mini. He is Very happy with it. The mini just has a smaller screen, but reLLY NOT THAt much smaller. He picked it up NEW for about $425. And it does have a few bells and whisles on it.
