College Scholarships

So last night, I was working on applying for scholarships via, the website www.fastweb.com I applied for one of them, but they had several more available, so I ended up applying for about a dozen through that website. I feel like my brain is swimming and I'm going to go cross eyed. I know how important applying for scholarships is, but it really is draining! Especially when you know that you might not even recieve the scholarship that you're trying so hard to win! I feel so discouraged sometimes thinking, "What sets me apart from the crowd?" "What do I have to offer that others don't?" And the answer really isn't there. I don't have an answer, and I really don't know if I'm anything special. All I know is that I really want the oppurtunity to do something with my life. I really want to be able to move forward, get a good education and care and provide for my daughter... And without a scholarship, I don't think I'll be able to.

The scholarship search is draining. It can make you doubt yourself and your qualifications. I would highly recommend reading some of the scholarship books out there. The authors will give you tips on what certain providers are looking for on applications. I would also suggest that you keep a calendar of deadlines and apply broadly. It is really a numbers game. The more scholarships you apply for the more likely you are to win.

Samantha, since you mention that you have a child, I want to say that there are scholarships/grants for single parents. I did not go back to school until I was 40, so I know it can be done. Keep your goal in mind and do not give up. In addition to FastWeb, I would certainly contact the college that you wish to attend and ask for scholarship/grant information for your desired degree.
